That's because you get there at stupid-o-clock in the morning!
Like Banners, the last time I went to Japfest was in 2013 and the entry system was
way better than previous years.
Two plus hours in a queue isn't acceptable, but the event involves a huge number of cars trying to get into a handful of entrances, so some waiting time is inevitable.
(Minor off topic: the current holder of the "worst queue to get in" award goes to the BHP Show at Lydden last year. It was an absolute free-for-all!).
