It's not something the average occasional visitor would be aware of but Nurburgring GmbH have become very over zealous in the past few months with 'their' track.
If N-GmbH haven't got their fingers in your business then you are the enemy. Due to how much over budget and over schedule they are with the new Nurburgring development they are doing everything they can to make as much money as possible and it's having a determental affect in my opinion.
It started with their war on car rental companies other than their new official car rental partner. The car rental companies are having their cars turned away for any possible reason. My old company had a car turned away for a chipped windscreen. Rentals with road legal semi slicks have been refused entry on hot sunny days due to 'safety issues' with the tyres.
No tuition is allowed during Touristfahrten unless by their official partner and even then getting it in English is a challenge unlike with another certain car hire company which offered tuition in English, German and Dutch.
A certain company that developed the trackwalk idea has had that cancelled recently with less tha 24hrs notice and N-GmbH have decided to do their own.
After suitably pissing off the car rental companies N-GmbH have now decided to focus on the track side photographers. These would often sit behind the armco, take your photo and offer them for sale. Now if any one is caught anywhere other than behind the 10ft FIA safety fences their details are taken. If caught a second time the police are called and threatened with being prosecuted for trespassing.
One of the beauties of Touristenfahrten is getting passenger laps with people you meet there. This is no leading to people getting banned for giving 'illegal taxi laps'. A guy I know bought his Jahreskarte (€1075) on the Saturday morning and had it confiscated by the afternoon for giving free passenger laps to people in his group.
Basically it's all gone tits up which is why I'm back working in the UK and not over in Germnay.
