If they scrapped VED althogether, it would just hit somewhere else.
I thought the monthly idea was going to be a good 'un, but having to pay more does seem a bit of a joke.
I haven't read the detail, but I can see the idea of monthly VED being quite handy as it takes away the nonsense of trading in and getting a refund or people haggling over a few hundred quid when you sell your car because they'll have to pay in a month or so. It doesn't necessarily sound like that's going to happen though.
Personally, I'm a bit nostalgic about the discs, so think it is a bit sad to see them go. I think I probably still have all my old discs somewhere from all the cars I've had.
