It'll be the aux belt which drives the alternator and power steering pump (the belt on the right is for the air con). The cambelt cannot be seen when just looking at the engine as its under plastic covers. The cam belt runs right across the front of the engine inside the black plastic belt cover:

Aux belt is easy and cheap to change so no problem but if its that bad, what else has been neglected?
