My mum and her mates had exactly the same problem in Brighton last week - no signal and no fault as far as vodafone were concerned. When she did try rebooting her phone it reset everything to the factory default settings and appeared to have wiped all her info/pics/ringtones - it was only when I took the battery, sim and sd card out that it 'remembered' everything and got a signal back.

Might be worth trying if you're still having problems.

The weirdest thing was that Steve called me while I was at mum's house and my ringtone had also reset to default... I'm not even on vodafone!
