On another note as its quite relevant to the opening post, is it purely for financial reasons people say not to bother upgrading to induction kit from decent panel filter or are there mechanical repercussions also? Thanks in advance.

Similar situation is with the HKS panel filter, they have biggest gain(7-10bhp),but again have poor filtration and poor filtration is not good for your MAF and turbo and engine, plus Do-Luck and HKS are not re-usable as K&N,Green Cotton and Cosworth(Cosworth filter is just K&N filter coloured to the Cosworth blue colour),those 3-5bhp you will never feel on road, similar is with lightweight pulleys etc.
About the induction kits is you will need remap, yes looking nice at engine bay,but gains are not massive if its mapped,i would say keep your OEM airbox, its OK to above 400bhp and if you will at future go with FMIC(Front mount intercooler) and bigger power yes you will need go with induction kit,but on standard TD04 is pretty pointless go with FMIC,we are this done and if its worth,i would say no
