Lots of good general advice here. But my advice is, if you think your going to cook your brakes on your first trip to the ring, then you shouldn't be going on track and you could be a liability for others.

Just enjoy the track and drive at a comfortable pace, no quicker then you would drive an unknown dangerous road in the uk.
