roughly speaking (albeit there is a lot more science involved) the first number (5, 10, etc) is how the oil reacts when cold and the second number (40, 50, 60) is how the oil reacts at higher temps / loads. the "w" is simply "weight"
we have been major distributors for both millers and Motul for years (far longer than the "fashion brigade" have been involved in them), and have also recently been appointed a "Shell Racing Soloutions" dealer (all race applications NO road, oils as well as fuels)
quite happy to discuss specific issues or builds as to 'best' recomend but we only sue these companies due to their heavy investment in both technology and quality ester basestock
