As per the title,

my mouse has packed up and gone to find a big piece of cheese.

Ive bought a new one thinking that this would solve the problem, but no joy all that happens is,

PC, says device not recognized  (it also says this about the old one)

Helpful

Most likely the USB bus getting in a twist, try swapping a couple of USB devices round to different sockets to see if it recognises everything for a first try.

E have you tried turning it off for a bit then give it another go? I'm no good with computers but that works for me (sometimes)
If not then consider taking it to K.C computers on London road.

Vista did have a few issues ;)

If it doesn't work in other sockets, its probably the USB host bus adapter drivers messing around. If you go into Device Manager (right click on My Computer, choose Properties, its in there on the left somewhere) you'll get a list of USB Serial Bus Controllers. Anything in there have a yellow exclamation mark next to it?

Like this:

Done that and it does have a yellow triangle next to WinDriver.

what next ??

Steve_PPP 15-10-2012 12:53 PM

You can try a couple of things at a guess...

a) Right click on the WinDriver and select Update Driver - let it go online and see if you can get a newer driver that might work.
b) Right click on WinDriver and uninstall, then reboot. It should re-detect the device and might sort itself out (USB can sometimes just go a bit funny like this).
