Godspeed Oversized Handbrake Shoes

Sometime ago I had STi 316 rear discs and Godspeed over sized handbrake shoes fitted.I've had the handbrake adjusted several times, but still have to pull it up to around my ears to get it to hold.Has anybody else fitted these shoes and have you had any problems.Thanks,Terry.

Which end did you adjust. Handbrake end inside the car or on the cog/adjuster vai the back of the hub/handbrake inner drum

Hi Scott,I don't do adjustments, but fairly sure it was via back of the hub/handbrake inner drum.

there are 2x basic adjustments..........

firstly a knurled adjuster inside the rear of the h/brake drum that tensions the shoes and once this is "set", secondly a cable adjuster just near the h/brake lever inside the car

It may be a silly idea as havn't got a drum backing plate infront of me....but....If the shoes plus adjustment are not taking up the slack, how about inserting a couple of shims inside the drum between each end of the shoe at its resting point. This will push the shoes out further and the spring tension on the shoe may hold the shim in place. Or make the shim u shaped so it hooks over the rest point/shoe hub mount.

Or maybe your cable is stretched, try adjustment handbrake end.
