Clutch

I had a spirited launch from some lights yesterday, the car pulled away very well but i couldn't help noticing the overwhemling smell of clutch.
I haven't done this too many times but wasnt sure if this was normal(It doesnt smell normal).
The car doesnt slip in normal or hard road use.
There was plenty of revs and the clutch was let out swiftly.
Just wondered if these cars a prone to this or is it the fist signs of a new clutch maybe needed soon.

Just to add this did put a big smile on my face, followed by a screwing up of the nose and a opening of windows

Tried this, and it didn't slip.I then tried another spirited launch and stunk the car out again.
So if this is common what the best way to get the car away quickly ?

normal. brand new clutch, did the same after 500 miles, done it a few times since then and it always smelt like burnt clutch.

Hold the revs at around 4.5k to 5k &getcthe clutch just on the biting point then back off the pedal a bit or side step the clutch & away you go. Wheelspin might occur & so will a large grin. :yeah:

what you have to remember is that unlike a powerful (or not) 2wd car most Impreza's will not have enough power to wheelspin on a fast get-away (as they have more grip than grunt), and thereore the weakest link in the chain is the clutch plate which will slip in protest and hence the smell..........

you will need to refine your launch technique if you want it to last longer term 8-)
