Silent turbo more whistle please

For those who don't know but might be interested, I started "project 300" (300bhp) just after promising to myself that I would keep my T2K classic absolutely standard.
Since then, the turbo has changed 4 times, decatted x2, remapped x4, gearbox rebuild, stage 1 clutch, induction, gauges, turbo timer, Apexi PFC, drop links, antiroll bar, respray, accident repair (not my fault), central lock motor x2, debadge, 2 wndscreen, bonnet respray, horns x2 (big bhp!), brake pads x2, tyres x2, wheels x2, up pipe, 26000 miles, repeaters, ...... Anyway, short story long, Holy SH!T! I've been paying loads of other people's mortgages for a while....

What was I talking about?
Oh yeah - my "standard" classic - since the FMIC and induction kit, my AFP turbo is practically silent!

How can the turbo whistle be made more audible?

Speak to Anger on that one. His car has a built in orchestra of wonderful noises :drive:

Anger,
Pipe up!

Normally they get louder with freer flowing exhausts/induction. My APS SR40 is bloody noisey but I wouldn't reccomend it!

Biggest increase in noise came from the silicone inlet pipe MAFless straight onto large cone filter.

I've got an old APS dump valve that whistles as it doesn't quite close properly!

Didn't get that....

I cant understand with all the bits you have how it can be quiet, ive just gone from a wing mounted airfilter to a big K&N and the noise is very loud now

Are you on standard headers and up-pipe ?

scoobycoops 18-02-2011 09:25 PM

Yeah standard headers and uppipe.
There's loads of induction noise but no whistle.!

2-jaffacake-tone 18-02-2011 10:19 PM

Thought we ported your headers? I think if you got a full systum exhaust an your turbo is quiet, normaly put an exhust on an turbo noise is increased, i dont think there is much you can do :s
