I'm changing my hoses for goodrich braided one but what's the best fluid to use

Justin 17-01-2011 12:01 AM

I use motul 5.1, from ASP

Dot 4 or 5.1

Dilligaf 17-01-2011 07:41 AM

Dot 5.1 has a much higher boiling point than the the DOT 4, so if you drive hard or on track the 5.1 is better, on the road it probably wont matter!

darth maul 17-01-2011 08:17 AM

Ok thanks guys 5.1it is

Steve_PPP 17-01-2011 08:23 AM

5.1 from AS Performance.

If your order it now you will have it tomorrow.

I use a dot 4 solution, Motul RBF600 fluid. Very good and has never cooked up on me and i have realy pushed it! One of the most recommended fluids... Read the spec:

I use AP Racing 5.1 - ordered from Demon "send you the wrong thing" Tweeks.

Never know if I might have to really push my brakes on the drive to work. Or going to Tesco to get the shopping. ;)

Steve, when you thinking of getting the stuff? Need to do mine so can go halfs on the carridge?

I have AP Raing DOT 5.1 at the mo. Have heard the Motul stuff is pretty good but may stick to the AP Raing fluid again?

not totally true unfortunately as confusingly you can have various specs of dot4 fluid from budget discount centre stuff thro to full race fluid like RBF600, etc........

as with most things ideally you want the "best" fluid for your use and a sa general rule you cant go far wrong with the likes of motul 5.1 as a good all round fast road type fluid that will cope with light track use........next up would be the likes of the RBF600 & 660, but for extreme/race use now we use the newly released Performance Friction RH665 brake fluid
