At last....

After quite a few trips to see Simon (JGM) We've finally managed to get my car up to where I want it!!

Was at Charlies (SRR) with Simon on Thursday and got 312.9bhp/313lbft from my little UK Classic....

Finally in the 300/300 Club!

Big thanks must go to Simon and Charlie for all their advice, time and effort over the last year or so!! :10:

Re: At last....

Re: At last....

Apexi Power FC
VF35
STI 8 TMIC
Forge Recirc DV
550cc Injectors
255 Walbro
Green Panel Filter
Wide Neck Decat Ninja Downpipe
2.5" Ninja Centre Section
TSL Typhoon Back Box

It took so long as it wasn't holding boost very well towards the redline and I've been rather slow about getting things sorted to find out why!

Re: At last....

Why was the boost dropping then ?

Re: At last....

Well the replacement turbo seems to have sorted it so either the other turbo had just about had enough or there was a problem with the wastegate/actuator.

If anyone has any ideas on how I could check the actuator etc so I know if I can sell the turbo or not that would be great....

Nice one, good torque there.

Re: At last....

VF actuators are not adjustable otherwise you could tighten it to help hold boost.
Are you running a 2-port or 3-port OE solenoids or an AVCR ?

A 3-port may help, but my VF28 also drops at the top even on a 3-port.
The VF's need a fair amount of duty at the top end to maintain the boost, unfortunatley a PFC doesn't give you the option to set per Rpm.

What boost you running and holding at the top now compared to before ??

Re: At last....

I did start looking in to replacement actuators before the turbo came up but when I found the newer VF with a fair few less miles than the first 1 I had it was just as easy to change the lot.

I'm on a 3-Port already. I like the idea of an AVCR but I'm not sure its worth it for the minor gains I'd get at the top end. I know the boost control on PFC is a little limiting with the single global duty setting but hey....

Its mapped to aim for 1.4 bar and on the rollers we saw 1.42 dropping to about 1.2 (maybe a little less!) at 7k.... This is all in 3rd on the rollers. On the road in 4th/5th I see a slightly higher peak (1.45bar max) with the slightly increased load. On the previous turbo it was peaking at about the same amount of boost (but 300/400rpm later!) but was dropping to barely 1 bar even in 4th.

Re: At last....

Sounds about spot on what I'm running.
Commander peaks at about 1.45 in 4th/5th and drops to around 1.1/1.2
We have very similar power figure too.

My last run was 305/305 at SRR. Hoping for a bit more next year as was only running about 1.3bar last time.

Nice one
