sti v7/8/9 tmic on a v1/2

will this fit i have looked and took my standard top mount of when i was doing the engine change and it just didnt want go in, even with the inlet hose of it just wouldnt slot in at all,:splat:

i have seen all the how twos, but they are all on v3+ and iam i right in saying there inlet manis are shorter than the v1/2??

Any help as want to get this sorted as needing to mapp it very soon:drive:

It is a real pain on that version.

One of few times I would say it's probably easier to fit a FMIC kit.

Even a FMIC will need tweaking to make fit.

The 7/8/9 is so much bigger than the earlier ones. I had a v8 on my phase 1.5 and that was a really tight fit. The different manifold design on the earlier cars makes it even more of a squeeze and I would think quite a few things need modifying to get it between the throttle body and the bulkhead and that's before you've done anything with the pipework etc...

I think Scott (Silver Surfer) did a step by step guide on fitting an STi8 intercooler on a classic (I assume it's the same, I'm no expert). If it's not on here it should be on SN somewhere

Here's the step-by-step I looked at before I fitted mine...

Newage STi TMIC Onto Classic Phase 1.5

... but as I say, the Phase 1s (Version 1 & 2) are very different to the Phase 1.5 or Phase 2s so I think you'll struggle.
