F1 Clutch

Has anyone used F1 clutches before?

Skullfudge 04-10-2010 12:05 PM

I'm assuming you mean the Honda-Tech F1 clutch mate?

If so I have heard they only last several months.

Tyler 04-10-2010 12:23 PM

Yeah i think that is the one, i have a Exedy 6 paddel clutch now fitted and i hate it, you can not drive the car on public roads so i am now looking for a fast road clutch....

Won't be looking at the F1 clutches then

An interesting issue that has recently been proved is the mapping of your car.

I run a hydraulic triple plate OSG clutch for everyday driving and that too has proved difficult for road use.
Recently I have had the car mapped and all issues with the clutch have vanished. I am not saying the previous map was wrong, but just different.

Before splashing out on another clutch it may prove to go this route first.

Cheers Clive, i did not know that you would have to map the car for the clutch.... I hope that it does help as it is truely horrible. I will message Simon and find out... Cheers bud. Here is the clutch i fitted..

Avoid F1 clutches imho.

What power/torque are you running?

Tyler 06-10-2010 04:31 PM

I am not 100% sure at the moment, not big power though. Maybe one day... ;)

bob'5 06-10-2010 04:40 PM

Less than or more than 400ftlbs or torque?

Tyler 08-10-2010 04:57 PM

Deffinatley less Bob..... :(

bob'5 08-10-2010 05:17 PM

For anything upto 400, these are the ones to go for: http://www.superhids.co.uk/exedy-clu...der-230mm.html

Lovely and smooth to use (as nice as OEM if not nicer). Free delivery this weekend too. Available as a package with the uprated forged lightweight flywheel also for just £499 delivered.

As said over on Surrey mate, your be fine with the organic version.

Why avoid the F1 Bob?

Lots more on Google.

Dave Beck 08-10-2010 08:09 PM

Not good :(

I had an ACT F1 6 puck on mine, also a F1 organic plate. Both were fine. The 6 puck was awesome in traffic as well. gripped well when driven hard (412/425)

bob'5 10-10-2010 05:07 PM

ACT = Advanced Clutch Technologies (USA), nothing to do with the "F1 Racing" brand.

ACT are decent clutches.

Good to know
