With regard to you saying they are grainy,

is this due to the amount of pixels your camera has??

Our resident photographer extraordinaire will have the answers.:nod:

grainy is normally due to ISO being set too high.

Great pics Rich. Love number 2, you can see the guys eyes looking straight at you and with the little wave. Very cool. :cool:

The grain is caused by a high ISO setting, looking at the pics, I would bet that it's set at something like 800. The advantage this does give you is that it's given you a much quicker shutter speed and has frozen the action really well. Thats the trade off though with the grain.

Not sure what your lowest level is (100 or 200), but for crystal clear pics, you need to be down there really. Then it's a case of messing about with shutter priority to get things right and then perfecting your panning technique. Which would be more difficult with bikes. Which is why so many pics are taken on bends.

I do like your 3 exposure shot of the MX bike in mid air. Top job that matey :doubleup:

Havent brought anyother one yet, they were taken with my 55-200mm lens.

Thats what i thought it would be, it was on a high setting (higher than 1600 i think), i did try a low setting (100) but just couldn't get the focus especially when there are coming around the corners at 100mph, will get there in the end i'll just keep practicing its just annoying when you take 500+ pics and they come out like that.

Ah, yeah - forgot you upgraded the kit lens when you bought the camera. I could tell it wasn't the standard 18-55mm lens (or whatever the Nikon comes with) so i assumed you'd got another one :)

What kind of F number were you shooting at Rich?

The wider the aperture, the quicker the shutter speed, the less blurred it should be.

This may sound daft, but it does work. It's worth trying to perfect your panning technique by taking pics of passing cars on a road near you. It'll get you into all sorts of good habits, panning, aperture & ISO settings etc.

One other question while I remember, what type of focusing did you have on? Was it on continuous?

Oh and with the pictures did you have the widget fungle switch selected, not forgetting the bipolarising wobble filter:whistle:

No.99 was ex MotoGp rider Jeremy McWilliams on a Harley Davidson XR1200.

I did spend hours looking for the fungle and wobble switches but gave up, do you think that could be the problem then??? Sounds like a trip to Park Cameras for me then to ask where they are!!! :lol:
