Octane Booster......

your thoughts please...

Anyone on here use it?
What brands are preferred?
Is there really a noticable difference?

Re: Octane Booster......

I would only use it if I couldn't get V-Power.

When I would get super unleaded and ad 1 bottle of millers octane boost. This combination give me the 99ron that my engine is mapped for.

Millers is the best known and widely used make.

Re: Octane Booster......

It will only make a difference if the ECU has puilled timing and is running a low IAM.
The extra octane will allow the timing to be re-advanced.

Some cars re-act well but only becuase the above has occurred.

If the ECU is running all, or close to all, available timing advance there will be little or no difference.

IMHO mapping for octane boost or V-power is pointless, as you end up panicking or being really anal about what fuel you put in.
Map it on a good branded SUL, if you want to put 98/99 or Octane in then it's your choice and only really there as a safety net......

In my eyes it's horses for courses etc.

I have my car mapped on V-power plus a shot of NF Octane booster.

I'm not to anal with the Octane booster but if I can't find a Shell garage in time I keep a couple of bottles pre-messured for topping up the octane level.

I've used both a couple of Octane boosters. But my top one has to be the NF stuff.

+6 ron rating (300mls bottle).
