I thought they weren't entering this year and just doing TOTB?

soundwave 03-03-2010 11:13 AM

Jesus thats sexy.
Long long wait but reckon it'll be worth it.

Damain 03-03-2010 04:38 PM

very nice, but 2 years ?

AndyWRX 03-03-2010 05:32 PM

i really like that but 2 years is a long time though

Nige 03-03-2010 06:29 PM

Whats to like? Its an Impreza wannabe. I have no doubt's it will be quick but a proper Scoob its not. IMO :nono:

This is a rendered image of the final item.
They are not entering Time Attack this year.
It may get it completed earlier but Olly told me two years.
Prodrive are involved with shell.
Knowing Matt he has a head full of ideas and it will be another work of art.

Steve_PPP 04-03-2010 08:11 AM

overall i like it, but i can understand peoples viewpoint of 'its just not a proper Subaru'...

Rear wing looks like its been robbed of an old Pug 206 WRC car ;)

Chunk 04-03-2010 08:42 AM

Can't beat the original gobstopper

That one may be better performance-wise, but the old one has the looks

worzel 04-03-2010 08:58 AM

I think this new gobstopper looks really good. I am not a fan of the new shape scooby as a rule (except for the 380 I saw at SRR last week :norty:) but if this doesn't change your mind, nothing will.

The one thing I would say is it looks a bit non descript, where as the original Gobstopper was obviously a scooby and a fookin agressive looking one at that.

To summarise for me though, RCM must have total faith in the new chassis and the cars abilities to make the change. And lets face it, they are usually pretty spot on, aren't they :yeah:

tbtstt 04-03-2010 09:24 AM

This looks incredible and I'm sure it will go like a rocket...

...but the old Gobstopper is pretty much the pinnacle of tuned Impreza's isn't it? Plus its gorgeous to look at, so the Gobstopper 2 has a very tough act to follow.

I'm glad to hear the original Gobstopper won't be stripped to build this car though; its going to be a completely new car, so the old car will live on!

If its the car I think it is, then the owner (Dave) is very slowly changing my opinion on the Hatchback. He hasn't made any radical styling changes, but just little tweaks which "de-Astra" the car. I still haven't quite come to terms with the front end yet!

I was really pleasantly surprised when I saw it. I think that is the car that would change a lot of peoples minds about the hatch when they see it. It's a cracker. :yeah:

DukeBoy 04-03-2010 07:23 PM

Well by the time Gobstopper 2 it finished it probably will be an old shape

Jolly Green Monster 04-03-2010 07:29 PM

It is actually a 330S Daves car but now with 370bhp as I remapped it tuesday.
I am really starting to like them more and more
Simon

Jolly Green Monster 04-03-2010 07:30 PM

Oh and the gs2 look the ********

Moley_WRX 04-03-2010 07:46 PM

I am starting to really like the hatch.

There are some stunning ones over in the US (have a look on nasioc)

SpecB 04-03-2010 07:47 PM

Holy cow! - What's the waiting list for these and how much are my kidneys worth?

I like the bonnet strangely. It really give it the aggressive look it's been missing

Jolly Green Monster 05-03-2010 09:44 AM

very much like that too..

there is only one thing putting me off buying one and selling my 03 sti at the moment..

paying the government so much for road tax.... grrrrrrr

lpg conversion - hummm road tax reduced for lpg conversion?

Simon

Jolly Green Monster 05-03-2010 09:55 AM

not sure it was just a thought...

I know at MOT if a car turns up running lpg it has to be tested as lpg and emissions aren't an issue.. :)
