We now have a 22B in the SES

Just returned from taking Rob the Chester to collect his new pride & joy and she is a beauty !!
We drove back both cars back taking 4 hours with all the traffic. Passed a few Scoobs who all done a double take before flashing lights or giving the thumbs up (not every day we see a P1 & 22B on the road together :)

It seemed weird following him back for 4 hours and it looks lovely.

I took some photos but I will let Rob post some up. I am going to his place Fri and setting him up with SES & will show him the ropes regarding forums etc.

Beautiful looking cars guys, liking the spacing on the 22bs plate! How many of these did they make?- Cant be arsed to Google it!

2-jaffacake-tone 20-01-2010 07:04 PM

424 i belive :)

Skullfudge 20-01-2010 07:54 PM

T

There are 12 Nr UK 22B's registered but 3 are missing? so there could be only 9 Nr left of the 16 original with Rob's as one of them. 4 Nr have be written off.

The UK 22B's went through Prodrive first and they made the 5th gear longer, replaced the rear light covers, re-mapped the ECU and upgraded two other things but I can;t remember what they were?.

Rob filling up yesterday

Were all the others written off in various rally stages? thought 200 of any example had to be made to enter WRC? Nearly as rare as rocking horse s**te then, cant wait to see it in the flesh!

Jaffa's right - 424 made. Only 16 officially sold in the uk, but i expect theres quite a few more that have made their way here as private imports since then :)

Dyney 20-01-2010 08:46 PM

The 200 production rule was the group B rally cars like the RS200 and Metro 6R4

There were 16 22b's "officially" sold in the UK via Prodrive/Subaru
Plus 3 "000" cars for Colin Mcrae, Nicky Grist and David Lapworth
400 Jap cars, now mostly in the UK
and 5 more for other markets (Aus,US)

The wide body WRC cars are different form the 22b. The body panels aren't the same ;)

alfa male 20-01-2010 08:54 PM

Cheers for that Dyney, understand all the numbers now!:fool::doubleup:

Skullfudge 24-01-2010 05:30 PM

I took Rob's 22B out for a spin today and was amazed at how well it felt.
Boost intro was the smoothest I have experienced and the whole car feel really nice.
Mapped at 278 Bhp (with an option for just over 300 if required) it pulled really well boosting from around the 3800 mark.
Close ratio box was a dream to use.

The 22B is a totally different feel to a standard P1.
A P1 with no mods feels more like a refined Type R, where the power delivery of a 22B is similar to driving an Evo (as quick but much smoother).

The 22B felt like a Lexus compared to my P1. Big power is great but you lose that "finesse" of driving.
Many guys told me that I may have something missing up to, and to be honest they were probably correct

MrX??? 24-01-2010 06:43 PM
