DVD to AVI Ripper- Anyone ??

I want to rip a load of DVD to AVI so I can stick the DVD's up in the loft and hold the AVI on an external HD.

What do people recommend...pefer Free/Cracked.

Have found WinX DVD Ripper Platinum but keeps failing 2 mins in to rip, maybe I need a better copy.

You can download DVDFab for free. (This superceded DVD decrypter in the world of cracking after DVDdecrypter sold out to hollywood studios/prod'rs. (w@nkers))
DVDFab gives you loads of options such as decryption, recoding, whole disc, main movie, dvd 5 or 9 or chapters and a choice of subs. A free version is available. There is a version for HD or Bluray, also.

If you need further advice or instruction, I am happy to oblige.

Do you need rencoding, transcoding, info? Reburning?

Do you need help cracking Matroska for Bluray or anything else?

Handbrake is my free weapon of choice, although if you want to do avi, you'll need the older 1.9.3 version (check filehippo which stores old versions). The new version concentrates on mp4 container with h.264 codec which is what everyone is moving towards now.

If you need to overcome the DVD security I recommend slysoft's anydvd, but I pay for it.

I used PocketDivXEncoder (http://www.pocketdivxencoder.net/EN_index.htm) in the end which I already had on my PC for when I was ripping DVD's for my Archos.
Have also downloaded 'Super' (http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html), which looks quite powerfull

I couldn't get Super to do what I wanted, although many people recommend it.
