Unluckiest person award

I have set a record i reckon.
Picked up my M3 today at 4.30pm looking stunning , wheels fresh from refurb company at a cost of £550, perfect.
Car fully detailed and looking 100%.
Drove 22 miles, then at a main road crossroads , warning light on dash and no gears, its an SMG. To cut a long story short, call to garage, call to recovery, call to coopers bmw, all in coopers hands now.
Me very pissed off.
The garage i brought it from were extremely embarased and appolagetic, and are paying for all out of pocket expenses and the full repair.
Reckon its going to cost a small fortune.
The 22 miles i did drive was great:doubleup:

Hope they gave you a loan car, I had a similar problem when I bought my Toyota Aygo (with Multi mode Gearbox)within a month it was back at the dealers and was there for a month whilst they sorted out the ignition system.

C. J. 13-11-2009 08:58 PM

not good
As said a loan car should not be out of order

Skullfudge 13-11-2009 09:00 PM

Oh dear, you must of been well peed off !

Crowman 13-11-2009 09:06 PM

Friday the bloody 13th.
The garage said they will gladly bring a courtesy car over to me..
SMG gearbox is going to be mega bucks.
Was well looking forward to having a good drive over the weekend, gutted.

Greig 13-11-2009 09:11 PM

Sorry to hear that, must be gutted. At least when you get it back it should be like brand new!!

Scooby Wez 13-11-2009 09:13 PM

Not good bet the air turned blue in the car when it happened :splat:Hope they sort it asap.

BIG"E" 13-11-2009 09:13 PM

Sorry to hear that mate. Friday 13th.

On a positive note at least your not paying for the repair as you may well have been without any warranty.

Crowman 13-11-2009 09:20 PM

I got more and more angry each time some complete twat tooted and gestured at me, because yeah of course i wanted to be broken down on a bloody main crossroads for 2 hours.
I also had the old bill pull up and say we will have to push it as its causing a jam, i politely said feel free you try and push it when you cant get a neutral gear.

Anger 13-11-2009 09:21 PM

Prob not the best weather this weekend to be testing the M3 out anyway mate

Nige 13-11-2009 09:55 PM

:waiting:

Nige 13-11-2009 09:57 PM

Now that is bad luck. Sorry to here that bet you were looking forward to a blast about to:angst:

MrX??? 14-11-2009 07:41 AM

:shock::shock:
:cry::cry::cry:

Don't know what to say m8:-|

Crowman 14-11-2009 08:21 AM

Update guys.
Have reset the SMG and using car today to see what happens, have just given it some beans in sport,Mtrack mode, wow what a car.
No sign of any warning lights yet.
The car is still booked back into Coopers Tunbridge Wells for Monday for full check over as i have no confidence in the car at the moment. Of course if it fails over the wekend then it will be left with BMW until fully sorted.
BMW said as it seems temperature related they suspect one of 3 temperature sensors on the gearbox.
To be honest i want it to do same thing this weekend,as something is not right for it to have done it in 1st place.
New i should have got an RB320 :doh:

Chunk 14-11-2009 11:11 AM

Should have bought an AMG Merc

Hope its all sorted soon

worzel 14-11-2009 12:57 PM

We have just been out in it and fingers crossed all seems fine. Both gave it plenty up and down the box. No problems at all.

Just hoping that it is what Martyn thinks, a dodgy heat sensor of sorts.

It's a proper nice bit of kit though mate :mrgreen::mrgreen::mrgreen::mrgreen:

DukeBoy 14-11-2009 03:55 PM

Can't beat a gearstick, more reliable than any electronics
Atleast all seems ok at the moment though Martyn, but i bet it's in the back of your mind now when driving it.....will it, won't it, will it, won't it??? lol

Crowman 14-11-2009 04:27 PM

Yes Rich its sure in my mind, i actually want it to fail again so coopers can trace the fault.

Crowman 16-11-2009 04:33 PM

Well the car was dropped off at coopers this morning, they just called me to say its the slave cylinder clutch position sensor.
£455 fitted.

Squadron-Leader 16-11-2009 04:57 PM

Unlucky, but at least it'll get sorted under warranty.

I once bought a Vauxhall Carlton CDi way back in 1993 from a dealer in Southampton. At the time I lived near Poole in Dorset, so it was a fair way to drive home. Got to Ringwood and the CEL came on followed by the bl**dy thing conking out right in the middle of the dual-carriageway.

Dealer paid for recovery, a new ECU, new engine wiring loom and various other sensors, but only gave me a cr*ppy old escort estate to run about in. Took them over a month to sort it all out.

However… still one of the best/most comfortable cars I've ever owned and it lasted me 8 years.
