British Rallycross Championship R1 & R2 2022 – Lydden Hill
 

First live motorsport of 2022 (hurrah!), the opening two rounds of the 5 Nations British Rallycross Championship at Lydden Hill.

Junior driver Patrick O’Donovan graduated to the Supercar class, taking the wheel of his Dads Fiesta. Thought the Gulf-esque livery looked great on the car.

The Championship held a season launch day a few days before racing got underway, nice opportunity to see the cars before they started trading paint!

Extreme E and rallycross driver Oliver Bennett put a late entry in, in his Mini Cooper. Jury is out on the setup of this car, but it has all the best bits in it and Bennett was very consistent.

With his son driving his old Fiesta, Ollie O'Donovan made his competitive debut in his newly built Proton Iriz. It was a consistent weekend for the new car, though it appeared a little short on pace to challenge for the win.

The were a handful of retro 4WD cars doing demo runs, including the Will Gollop built Peugeot 306. This car has a ton of history and is approaching its 30th birthday, so nice to see it out on track.

Defending champion Derek Tohill chased hard, but with the superior car Oliver Bennett won both rounds. Two days of decent racing, the best way to spend a sunny bank holiday weekend!
