Detailing Academy Day - Auto Finesse

After much discussion we have managed to bag a club day at the renowned detailing company "Auto Finesse"!

http://www.autofinesse.co.uk/

For those who are new to detailing, or wanting to learn more about what products to use, what techniques are best practise, and also just wishing to ogle at their new warehouse, detailing bays, and shop - this day is going to be amazing!

Auto Finesse are a British detailing company who started life in 1999. Originally called JBs Valeting Service, the company developed into an international Detailing Brand, who products are used and suited to every type of car from your every day driver, to multi-million pound Hypercars.

Auto Finesse recently opened a new 4,500sqf facility comprising of warehouse, detailing bays which are vastly becoming popular for their "Detailing Academy" days, and brand shop.

Now I have your interest - I can give you some of the juicy details!

Auto Finesse have agreed to host a SouthEastScoobies Club morning:
Saturday 17th August @ 9am till 1pm.

The crew at Auto Finesse have also kindly agreed to allow a members car to be used as a demo vehicle, so their experts can provide basic washing, drying, and DA machine polishing instruction using the famed Auto Finesse products and techniques.

On top of that, we get to wander round "The Bays" and also spend time in the shop, at which point any SES member will receive a 20% discount on anything purchased!

Auto Finesse are located at:

Unit 4 Haslemere Industrial Estate*
Bishops Stortford
CM23 3HG

I really hope this new type of event could be beneficial to any member who takes pride in the appearance of their vehicle, be that experienced, or not, and hopefully people can get some good products at good prices as well!

All those wishing to come along please put your names below.

Once we have a full list, a demo car will be picked at random (ill put all the names in the hat!) so please put next to your name whether you are willing to allow your car to be used as a demo. (that doesn't mean go rallying the day before just so you get a wash out of it!)

Any questions - please do not hesitate to contact me!

Excellent...
I really think although limited to 4hrs - this really will be an insight to anyone who is new to detailing or wanting to know the correct methods for washing / cleaning / maintaining your car safely..

And Auto Finesse products are great value - even more so with 20% off on the day!

If your a detailing expert, I still think you can learn something from watching a professional company in action.

Not sure what everyone else is doing but I was considering heading up to the Imperial War Museum at Duxford once we've finished, it's only half an hour away.

https://www.iwm.org.uk/visits/iwm-duxford

Tickets are cheaper if you buy in advance.

Alternatively the RAF Museum at Hendon in North London is free (car park isn't) but it's not as easy to get to.

https://www.rafmuseum.org.uk/london/

A few photos of my visit 2 years ago are here, there was a lot of building work going on at the time in preparation for last years 100th anniversary of the RAF so I think there are more exhibits now:

http://www.southeastscoobies.co.uk/v...ad.php?t=22496

Looks like I'm on my own if anyone else wanted to jump in for the ride.

Haven’t had a chance to fathom out a route, but it would be nice to meet and convoy up...

Guess other side of the water / m25 would be a good meeting point..

I’ll try take a look tonight unless anyone has a free few mins during the day?

Ryan

Rdlangy1 14-08-2019 11:32 AM

a quick look at the route, and we could meet at Lakeside just the other side of the tunnel, or we could meet further up the M25?

Bolesroor 14-08-2019 11:47 AM

Shell at junction 7 M11 is approximately 11 minutes from destination, about 60 minutes from the tunnel depending on traffic?

If we could bring as many scoobs as possible please guys - I did tell them we were a scooby club and it’s part of the reason they agreed to the free demo etc..

They might also post up the meet on their insta pages and website if we have a good turnout which is good publicity for the club :ok:

Just had to do the same

Red Baron 16-08-2019 08:59 AM

Rather than all trying to get on the garage forecourt shall we meet in the services car park instead, probably a bit more room and hopefully a coffee shop as well

Great idea Shane :ok:

Is the address the same?

Red Baron 16-08-2019 09:58 AM

Yep, the Shell garage is the fuel stop for the services so just follow the signs for parking rather than fuel.

Your phone has auto corrected my name :)

That junction and services gets very very busy due to its location to the airport.
You could end up queing for an hour to get in and back out again.
We used to use it when travelling to see the parents but avoid it now after a few times getting caught in traffic.

Red Baron 16-08-2019 05:03 PM

I had wondered but hoped it would be ok at that time.

HYDROSCOBY 17-08-2019 06:22 AM

When I got in there is when I found out and you couldn't leave with a 3h break in between, so I had know choice. I surpose I could of just meet everyone there but I didn't really think about that, as I didn't have much sleep.

Was a good day thou, so thanks everyone

Red Baron 17-08-2019 02:46 PM

There is a McDonalds and Bp next to the short stay/drop off car park if you find yourself in a similar situation in future . :ok:

Thanks for organising Ryan and your advice on what cleaning products to buy, went for more items than the 20% discount as the till seemed challenging to say the least when trying to refund, well that's my excuse anyway 😉

I think Joe was hoping for more support when cleaning George's car 😆 I did find his demonstrations very useful 👍Attachment 2627Attachment 2628

A really useful day, just learning some of the basics and chatting about what's what. 20% discount on everything was a bonus too!

Oh, and remember to pay your Dart Charge guys!

Rdlangy1 18-08-2019 07:37 AM

Glad everyone enjoyed...

I thought Joe and his team were very good and the free drinks all day and freedom to do whatever we liked very very nice. A very hospitable approach..

Hope people got some good deals and enjoying using their products :ok:

Cheers Ryan i thought is was a very good morning and was nice doing something different. I know it takes time and effort to organize something like this and every other meet and it doesn't go unnoticed the effort that you and the others put in to make the club what it is. Thank you.

Would like to echo everybody’s positive comments. Thank You. Most likely will book in for the session in September. :ok:

They do training courses for different levels which I think SB is referring to?

Me too, really great meet and thanks for organising Ryan. Hope you picked up at least one tip you weren't already aware of! 😏😬
Was great to be have the freedom to join a meet again too. One day a meet down your way will coincide with a trip down to see my parents, but until then I will probably be waiting for the ring 2020 😋

Well I've been out and played with some of the products today.

Iron out works well.
https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...b4b2c7c7_b.jpg

As does the big wheel cleaning brush although I did pop the little rubber cap off the end of it, think it got caught on the lip of the stone guard.
https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...6d7e264e_b.jpg

Pear scented snow foam is good as well but isn't as pungent as the Water Melon one we used up there.
https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...05f9a7d1_b.jpg

Also tried the trick of spraying some detailer onto the wet panel before drying and it does aid the drying process using a drying towel.

Rdlangy1 23-08-2019 07:31 PM

Superb shane :ok:

Glad all working as expected...

Was also going to try that when i next get round to car cleaning...

Need to find a chance to get out there and clay the scoob and beemer ready to machine them. I expect i'll have to go panel by panel until i run out of time as the likelihood of getting a full day on it is slim!
