Think Tom and I are going to stay down there overnight after the event and travel back on the Sunday if anyone else is interested in doing the same, plenty of hotels and B&Bs in the new forest and a good range of budget hotels under 10 miles away in Southampton.

Not even thought about it Scotty, still don't know if I'm staying down there or not and if I do it could be the 27th or 28th

Depending on cost and if I can afford it I will be travelling down the 28th .

Scott.T 24-06-2019 06:49 PM

Where you planning on staying Shane?

Red Baron 25-06-2019 08:49 AM

No idea, had a quick look at the usual comparison sites and most of the cheaper stuff is in Southampton. Just want somewhere with a clean room, reasonable parking and somewhere to get a few beers and a pizza in the evening.
The problem I have at the moment is taking the 29th off work as I'm off for the next 3 weeks as it is and we're a bit busy.

The speed Thales operates at 1 day is lost in the noise.

Based on my experience of dealing with GDs on Scout we're positively rapid by comparison.

I'll send cash for 2 adults later.

I've booked the Stag Hotel in Lyndhurst for the Sunday night, dont mind the early start but dont fancy the late finish as well with a 5am start the following day. Cheaper places in Southampton but distances on the booking sites are given as the crow flies, most Southampton hotels are twice the distance quoted on the comparison sites from Beaulieu and most have additional parking fees.

scotty 29-06-2019 12:30 PM

I'm still waiting to find out is 10 the max or are more cars aloud on the stand for beaulieu as I'm stuck between Southampton or Lyndhurst for a travelodge dont mind if I'm an hours drive away .

Chris1070 29-06-2019 01:12 PM

Hi all,
Maybe me getting confused, but is this event on the Saturday or on the Sunday 28th, just looking for a hotel and don’t want to book the wrong night. Sorry if I am the confused one(happens a lot)

Mine may be increased +1.5 as Claire & Ellie may come along. Just looking at hotel options for the night before to limit the early start but New Forest on a Saturday night doesn't come cheap it seems!

If you buy your ticket from the simply jap site I'm sure you can tag along

Scott.T 23-07-2019 12:40 PM

Anyone that requires additional tickets i.e for more passengers, can still purchase them direct from beaulieu

https://www.beaulieu.co.uk/simply-japanese-2019

To qualify for the reduced price the additional attendee must be within the Jap Car that's going to be on display.

As Scott says, we have a club stand booked under South East Scoobies for 11 cars. If you get your ticket direct online (we have already made our group purchase) then I expect you should be able to join us.

We'd just need to meet up beforehand as you need a windscreen pass - or I could email a copy for you to print if you think you'll be there before us.

Thanks, will do. Looks like you folks are meeting up in Lyndhurst.

I was planning to stop there on my way through anyway. Not sure where in Lyndhurst you are meeting, however I usually park in the "Village Centre" car park. Quite easy and lots of 'doording' avoidance spaces.

I'll be quite easy to spot as I'm in a WR1 so it's the colour.

You guys will be even easier to spot though ha.

I'll be easy to spot as I have a WR1 so unique colour, you guys will be more easy to spot though ha.

4 hours to get to Poole yesterday  traffic was a nightmare, has been raining for hours in Kent, still haven't cleaned the car yet, struggling for enthusiasm at the moment :polish:

Leight 27-07-2019 04:14 PM

My cars all clean and I Ceramic coated the wheels today and its pissing down so probably all for nothing as car will be rotten by the time we get there.

Steve_PPP 27-07-2019 04:32 PM

See you all tomorrow guys. I've got all the tickets here to hand out, and will be doing this at the Lyndhurst car park at 9am here:

Please try and be there on time, as we can't hold up the whole group for latecomers. If there's any problems, please call me on 07740.624.678.

Giuseppe - not sure if you ordered a ticket direct but if you haven't and were going to pay on the gate, we now have 1 spare adult ticket available @ £10...

That's the New Forest in summer for ya.
Especially the Lyndhurst approach.

It's normally better to follow HGV route in which is the earlier exit off M27 and enters lyndhurst from east, rather than the north route from north of lyndhurst

Red Baron 27-07-2019 06:48 PM

We're staying 25 minutes away North of Southampton, traffic was fine, even round Arundel and Chichester, long 50mph stretch on the M27 though.

See you all bright and early tomorrow morning.

Giuseppe 27-07-2019 11:16 PM

Thanks for the offer, very nice. I have already got an e ticket direct from the event.

See you tomorrow. That's the carpark for Boltons Bench isnt it. Thanks for the link, easy.

The lemon drizzle cake was superb!

Scorching hot day and I’ve become a “red neck” even tho I creamed up!

Got back eventually Steve thanks - hub nut had come undone and hence causes brake disc to meet brake calliper and causes some damage but at least wheel didn’t come off and I’d just come off motorway to go through Chobham village at the time...

Autofinesse derailing day up next on the 17th August - let’s see how many we can get along to that :ok:

Because they are all old and faded, just like the person that normally wears one 😉

Great to see Steve, Steve, Scott, Dave and Shane today and have a nice chat. Must make it to a meet soon !!

Went through a few YouTube videos of the event last night, think I was in the minority by not leaving the venue on the rev limiter, looks like there was one guy nearly made a mess of things with a bit of a tank slapper and read about someone putting a Mazda of some description through a hedge.
