Coilovers or standard KYB’s and springs
It’s been a while since I posted,my car has been on sorn for 2 years !!
I would like some advice do I go for the Tein street advance z or standard kybs & springs?? I am a bit concerned the ride will be really hard and unforgiving so I would like some feedback please. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |
Go springs and shocks , coilovers can be hard .

That’s what worries me ! The car is a real pleasure to drive and I don’t want to ruin it . Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |
Also if it's a every day car , winter /rain etc coilovers don't last , will be rusty and seized in no time.
Kyb st ultra and a spring choice to your drop level your after works a treat , Been there done it. Uk roads in a daily with coils arnt great unless your stretching to kw version coil overs then yes there spot on! Tein are fine but the salt in winter will kill them . |
Nothing wrong with pedders shocks and springs kit .
|
I've heard few issues with knocking on them mind Scott .
Personally I have zero dealings with them , so be keen to hear review of current owners . What do they price in at? |
Mines not an everyday driver, she’s got 62000 on the clock from new.
But the current shocks are rusted to ****!! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |
Well i can tell you ive have the pedders kit fitted to the Foz and so far ive had no issues , they were fitted by the previous owner in May 2016 aswell . Here is the link to the kit i have but they do the kit for blob , bug and classic .

For a road car especially a daily driver I’d stick with shocks and springs. Some uprated KYBs with lowering springs e.g. Eibachs would be a great combination. Or drop a bit more and get STI pink springs.
Pedders do get good reviews on the whole, |
we stock / supply a lot of Pedders and the few issues they have are sorted very simply...........
in terms of product and service they are one of the better companies IMO |
Have to agree with the concensus here.... I used to have KYB Ultra SRs with Prodrive springs on my bug and it worked very well. Moved to Tein coilovers and it is stiffer and great on track but on most roads, it can get bumpy and twitchy. The shocks/springs combo lets you drive faster and safer on anything but perfect flat roads as they are far more compliant over bumps.
Really depends if its going to be your daily driver... :) |

Mines not a daily driver ( could not afford the fuel ) 😂 I just love the fact that it’s already good on the road with standard set up,it seems that lots of owners go for coilovers even though they will give a harder ride, I have been there and done that with other cars in the past!!! with Teins you can adjust the dampeners, but at the end of the day with the smaller tighter springs it will still be harder ride. |
