Safety First. Working under car
 

So when my new car finally arrives I plan to fit an Afterburner exhaust available from Scoobyworld.In the past I would just shoot down to Brent (SMD), but as this now involves quite a long drive and a ferry trip it looks like I need to do it myself.I'am hoping its just a couple of nuts to undo? To work under the car I'am guessing jack up front first (put trolley jack where?),then axle stands. Then jack rear,jacking point rear axle? and then axle stands? Anything else I should do?

Buy a Forester. Legend has it you can do the backbox without jacking! :D

You could always put blocks next to the stands as a fail-safe. Gives peace of mind in case the axle stands fail (unlikely).

Just jack up the rear, put jack under the diff (hopefully your jack has a rubber type top) and raise, for safety put axle stands in a suitable position in case the jack lowers.

Take it to a local garage ?

What size,weight axle stands should I get? Do I just need to jack up the back of the car. Sorry for basic questions,but this is all new ground for me.

i jack straight under middle of engine there is a jacking point on front subframe,dont no if this is the same with your new type..also as ian said straight under rear diff, i just use four halfords 2 ton axle stands combined weight of 8 ton wont go any where i also always leave wheels under the car if im taking them off just as an extra if it did come down......just incase! may not need front up but i like to give myself room..and i put rear stands on outer edges in front or rear wheels where sub frame bolts through bushes to body.. if that makes sense....
