Had one post & two panels down - on top of the Legacy!

Rdlangy1 28-03-2016 07:22 AM

Oh not good mate :-(

NL03Scooby 28-03-2016 08:43 AM

No issues at all here but the roads are covered in debris and a few smaller trees that have tipped over.

Hope the legacy didn't suffer any major damage Nick.

Banstead Stig 28-03-2016 09:49 AM

Hope the car's okay Nick.

Couple of fence panels down here, but perhaps the worst of it for me was my polytunnel escaping to next doors, over a six foot fence. Wish I'd seen it go!

Not the easiest thing to retrieve, it's about 3mx2mx2m! I managed to get it back though... but puffed out mind you.

nothing exciting down here really apart from level crossing gates stuck half open first thing this morning..and my fence stayed up.

I've got scratches on the A pillar and the bonnet as well as a couple of small dent/scratches on the rear quarter nothing too bad but it looks a bit tatty to say the least - I'll be on the phone to KM on Tuesday to see what they say.

Biggest issue I've had today was trying to replace the post - First I tried to pull it out using a catch screw chain and car jack but the wood was too soft and it just pulled out - then I tried drilling & chiselling the old out out of the concrete. Finally I tried one of the Metpost repair posts - body waste of time it just buckled as I was driving it in and twisted! Now I've got to dig the whole bloody lot up with a met post in the way! And it's attached to the Drive and the patio so it's going to make a right mess!

Banstead Stig 28-03-2016 05:14 PM

I've suffered at the hands of those met post repair things!

As well as that, when we had a bad storm about four years ago I needed a bloody Kango to get a concrete post out that had "snapped" and then clear space for a replacement. Utter flipping nuisance!

Hope you get it sorted without too much more grief.

Steve_PPP 28-03-2016 06:17 PM

Had a rubbish day here sorting stuff out too. Fixed 3 fence panels plus braced a fence post that's rotten and snapped at the base.... there's another post still swinging (only supported by the panels either side) but i can't get to it from my side as its behind the garage. Other side is a load of the neighbours bushes.... guess they'll be getting cut back soon

Also replaced a tile on the roof... and spent a few hours replacing the entire shed felting as the wind decided to tear it off last night... well, most of it. What was left was all torn and knackered so made sense to replace the lot. Oh joy... :(

Seemed like the whole world was in Wickes and B&Q buying fence panels and posts this morning :brickwall:

Red Baron 28-03-2016 07:43 PM

I'm still trying to find the owner of the roofing felt that wedged itself under the wheel of my wife's beetle where it then flapped around scratching the paint on the sill and door.

oldskool 28-03-2016 08:37 PM

well in my old house i would of lost anywhere up to 12 panels in that wind as it seemed to always suffer - new gaff seems to cope better as fences are half the height and privacy maintained by bushes etc which were bending right over last night but suffered no damage ! result as i got to hate replacing fence panels

SpecB 29-03-2016 12:16 PM

Finally got the post out today and the new post in - All sorted now and the panels were fixable so all secure now!

Now to ring KM and see what they say about the damage to the Legacy.
