Engine knocking

1 Attachment(s)
Hi guys and gals, I'm looking for some help here... My 1996 JDM import had to be recovered on Sunday as it developed a clicking noise and cut out on motorway....subsequently would not start....when home managed to get it to turn over and start but it's making a loud knocking noise which I'm sure is engine....will any ej20 block fit with my ancillaries or do I have to find the exact same lump.... My one has coil pack in the middle like this pic

Any help greatly appreciated and if anyone is able to lend a hand I would be very grateful

Chris

Any ej20 short block will work with the rest of your current engine . Don't reuse the oil pump though and make sure everything is well cleaned

Probably worth a new oil modine as well

Yep that to 👍

This may sound like a ridiculous question but if any ej20 lump will fit with my current ancillaries fitted to it I assume it must be from a turbo?

Yep and don't forget short block not long block

If I got one as a long block from same car I shouldn't have any issues should I?

Same phase should be fine

Well Scoobys new heart was picked up last night and an engine crane has just been collected so the hard work will start soon to get her back on the road! A new addition for rear lights has also been purchased but I'll leave that a surprise for now!

So what have you gone for, replacing the engine as one?

Got a complete lump from another import, belts and water pump already changed

The Heads look very slightly different cosmetically, inlet manifold will be swapped as mine is powder coated
