Surrey Rolling Road Day 5th September

Hope it's okay to post this up.

Our local group Berkshire Scoobies are hosting a rolling road day at Surrey Rolling Road in Farnborough (yes I know it's in Hampshire not Surrey!) on Saturday 5th September.

If anyone fancies attending to do a diagnostic run or just to see what power your car's making please drop me a PM and I'll send you details.
All welcome, whether you bring along a Subaru or not.
Hope to see some of you there.

Steve_PPP 22-08-2015 11:49 PM

Thanks for posting :)

I might be interested if i've got my scoobs minor oil leak fixed by then, missed the last rolling road day we organized on SES as the gearbox had shat itself!

bugeye_scoob 27-08-2015 08:03 AM

Hi Steve hope you're able to make it. With 9 days to go a few people have let me down so if you're able to pop down will be good to see you.

Cheers,

Giles

555_Si 27-08-2015 10:18 AM

Yep stick me down please as need to get a baseline and also confirm an issue i may have.

I need to see Charlie anyway.

Steve_PPP 27-08-2015 11:15 AM

I'm still interested but I really don't think I'll be able to get the scoob ready in time :(

Will try though!

555_Si 27-08-2015 12:16 PM

do you need to pillage any parts from my wrx bug engine to help?

Steve_PPP 27-08-2015 12:58 PM

Thanks for the offer mate, but its only an O ring for the oil modine that I need (hopefully!). Just ordered one with oil/filter from Alyn so should be here tomorrow.

Might get a chance to have a go at sorting it on Sunday or Monday.... and if that works, then I could still make the rollers on the 5th. Here's hoping that is where the leak is coming from! :)

Rdlangy1 27-08-2015 01:03 PM

fingers crossed for you mate :ok:

Security_Paul 27-08-2015 05:25 PM

Yessssss. I only live across the road and was going to give Duncan a shout about doing one soon anyway. Stick me down!

Ginola 27-08-2015 08:12 PM

what's the price? :)

tempting.. the current engines last blast :O

C. J. 27-08-2015 09:21 PM

If there's ten or more it'll be £35 Id imagine

Security_Paul 28-08-2015 11:11 AM

There's a few good pubs in the nearby area with big(ish) car parks if anyone also fancies a pint? The Mrs is working for I'm free for the day!

Steve_PPP 02-09-2015 08:15 AM

Sorry but I'm out, not had a chance to sort the scoob out yet. Bit annoying really as its due a run on the rollers but it'll have to wait until the next one...

nikkinokkinoo 02-09-2015 12:04 PM

Hi, what time does this kick off please?

C. J. 02-09-2015 01:47 PM

9.30

Security_Paul 02-09-2015 04:53 PM

I shall have my new tyres fitted then pop over.

Greenie 04-09-2015 05:35 AM

If I manage to get my car put back together today I'll pop down.

Security_Paul 04-09-2015 11:32 AM

What time are people planning on getting there for?

555_Si 04-09-2015 01:14 PM

9.30 ish

Security_Paul 04-09-2015 02:28 PM

Sweet. My tyre place opens at 8am so should be able to head over for then as well. Anyone's welcome back for a cuppa as well if you want. My place is only a 5 min drive from Charlie.

Security_Paul 05-09-2015 08:39 PM

Well that didn't go brilliantly for me. Only ran 305bhp because the fuel pump is making me run a bit lean or so Charlie says. Also the intercooler couldn't really handle the heat too well.

So, STi intercooler bought, also got a vain spoiler and a new front splitter. All booked in to be fitted with TFS and map tweaked by Duncan next week to get her back up again. 👍

Ginola 05-09-2015 08:42 PM

Order a new fuel pump too Paul just in case it's cheaper than what happens if it's running lean

C. J. 05-09-2015 08:47 PM

Second that , new pump

555_Si 05-09-2015 09:18 PM

He has new 255 walbro, dont think was pump, think that was causing a slightly rich mixture low down, air filter needs a good clean and some heat management required for turbo as no heat shield or blanket. Is pulling timing maybe due to heat?

Ginola 05-09-2015 09:29 PM

Surrey Rolling Road Day 5th September

None of that would stop it running lean at the top though..

C. J. 05-09-2015 09:54 PM

There was a batch of dodgey walbros late last year early this year .

KevP84 06-09-2015 10:58 AM

there was a group buy going on scoobynet for scoobyworx collosus fuel pumps not sure if its still going.

555_Si 06-09-2015 01:41 PM

Got a spare almost new newage walbro 255 here you can swap and try.

555_Si 06-09-2015 03:35 PM

So now my car is public knowledge i can post that i got 230bhp from RB5 WR Sport Prodrice ecu. About 10 horses down but got a dodgy maf, so pleased. New maf ordered but didnt turn up in time.

Banstead Stig 06-09-2015 04:02 PM

Prodrice? Sounds like goading the Corsa brigade. :D

I really like the RB5. Nice choice. :ok:

Red Baron 06-09-2015 04:14 PM

That's not bad Si, mine made 251 on the same rollers with a Prodrive ECU, I run the centre cat and a decat downpipe (opposite way round to the PPP setup) only other mod is a green panel filter.

230 is fine, as they were only rated as 240 new.

Security_Paul 07-09-2015 09:44 AM

Si, when's a good time to pop down mate? The new intercooler is being fitted between Thursday and Saturday so I'm free any time from Saturday morning...

I bought the fuel pump off eBay from a seller that a friend used who hasn't had problems so I went with that... Maybe this will teach me for not just going to a reliable source.

I shall have a look for some turbo blankets as well.

555_Si 07-09-2015 11:07 AM

Saturday should be free so can do then, swap over and see if runs better when remapped again for intercooler.

Ask other people advice on turbo heatshield/blanket, but i personally think it needs one.

C. J. 07-09-2015 11:08 AM

Surrey Rolling Road Day 5th September

Never bothered myself with heat shield

555_Si 07-09-2015 11:10 AM

Intercooler sits right ove rtop of turbo though, if running front mount i agree, whats your opinion CJ on top mount setup?

C. J. 07-09-2015 11:11 AM

Once it's moving not an issue

Ginola 07-09-2015 03:36 PM

As long as air is going in through the scoop heat blanket /shield wont make any odds, only if you crawl in traffic for 15mins then hoof it off the lights straight away would it be an issue, but this would be an issue with a blanket/shield aswell.
They cool down in seconds once moving (like 3 or4 secs above 20mph and they are icy cold again. you can see this running a temp probe in your IC/throttle body pipe work ;)

Security_Paul 07-09-2015 04:43 PM

Just had a word with TFS, they're going to check out the fuel pump while fitting the new intercooler for me this week. The fuel pump has got a warranty on it as well.

Just weird how she went from 336bhp, to fitting a fuel pump, 3" exhaust instead of 2.5", having a service including plugs changed, to then running only 305bhp.

Hoping once the intercooler is fitted and Duncan's tweaked the map that she'll be around 340bhp. Her horses have to be under there somewhere!

Ginola 07-09-2015 06:41 PM

I would never buy something that's failure or poor running can cause total failure for your engine from an unknown on eBay.
The 3" exhaust system at your power level is overkill really and will have lost you a little mid range torque for the sake of 1 or 2 more hp at the top of the rev range.

Also if mapped before and then you changed to 3" system without a map tweek would make it run leaner at the top as your flowing more air.
Hopefully Duncan will sort it out for you, I would be driving off boost until it's sorted, a good aftermarket fuel pressure regulator would be a very wise investment.

555_Si 07-09-2015 06:47 PM

If 3" exhaust was after mapping then that may cause issue.

Security_Paul 07-09-2015 07:38 PM

I always thought it was before the mapping but I've just checked back through the receipts and it was installed after the map. Idiot points go to me.

I had planned on upgrading the intercooler again in the near future anyway, so it's another thing ticked off the list.

Dave - I just wanted some more noise mate. The scorpion system was too quiet for my liking. She was still pulling 350 torques. Before when she had 336 she was around 375 torques. Only plus side to the 2.5 really is the toque figure ha.

torques makes you go faster! ;) :drive:

Security_Paul 07-09-2015 07:52 PM

Indeed. Just need her horse power back up again to go with it! Was thinking she's not been pulling as well lately! Haha. Idiot of the day award goes to me that's for sure. Ah well, at least Duncan can put her right this week and hopefully get her to a bit higher than she was before.

Rdlangy1 08-09-2015 01:57 PM

hope all goes well and let us know the results...

Pirate1066 08-09-2015 05:38 PM
