Insurance advice

Got the car back yesterday :-)

And its ****! :sadnod:

The paintwork is utter rubbish. I could have done it better with cans!

Anyone in insurance know what can I do? The third party insurance people picked the cheapest quote we provided, which turned out not to be a insurance approved repairer.

Pretty sure tbtstt had a similar issue with his Skoda, so he may be able to help.

Also, Chris on Surrey Scoobies knows his onions on insurance matters if no one else can help.

Whats up with Surrey at the mo? Been down for days?

Banstead Stig 01-08-2015 12:28 PM

Got hacked. Not sure why it's taking so long to resolve though. The provider has been a bit rubbish it seems.

Bring the bug up here and leave it with my recommended body shop they will look after it and they are fully insurance aproved .

Scott.T 01-08-2015 02:56 PM

If you signed for it, then there probably isn't much you can do about it.

Sprayed in a dirty/dusty work/shop

Bumper still has stone chips

Inside of car has a layer of dust

Passenger door looks like he's done some welding close and the
Sparks have hit the paint.

Tracking not done/checked, so it still vears off to the left

thats a tricky one Nick tbh - sorry to hear this

usually an insurer will try direct you to one of their approved bodyshops

if you are claiming off a third party you can choose to go to any body shop of your choice but if the repair they do is then not up to your standards i believe its largely between you and the body shop as you have chosen them albeit by submitting quotes from them

imo contact the bodyshop as well as the insurers to see if payment can be halted until you are satisfied and the car is at minimum safe

i had similar with a landy a few years ago but luckily the bodyshop agreed the work was substandard and redid the whole job as well as supplied a loan car from their pocket

jusnogood 01-08-2015 07:37 PM

Sorry to hear of your problems. Have you accepted it like that or left it at the garage?

oldskool 01-08-2015 07:58 PM

i accepted my landy btw and didnt spot the faults till next day when the light caught it differently , my bodyshop still put it right even though i didnt spot the defects at time of collection but possibly i got lucky ,, if they hadnt agreed to put it right my next call would defo of been to the insurers to raise the issues before payment was released

jusnogood 01-08-2015 08:21 PM

Yes it's certainly worth having a face to face with the garage manager first before talking to anyone else.

100% correct

Yep, you can nominate anywhere you want, don't accept it. Threaten trading standards if you don't get satisfaction.

I threatened to take BMW to the small claims court over a cracked subframe issue..and it worked, they had to fork out
