Not watched but expect the golf will win.
Subaru have lost the plot and need to modernise.
A lot of the technology is 15 if not 20+ years old.
Superhatches are well ahead.

Bytes 27-07-2015 06:49 PM

Subaru 1:28
Golf 1:29.3

Wet track conditions

Willowsdad 27-07-2015 06:49 PM

Golf is quicker to 60, but the sti laps over a second quicker in the wet. Not bad for old technology. The look of the new scooby is growing on me too.

The scoob turns in better and puts the power down earlier, feels more alive, and Vicky enjoyed driving it more (felt safer in the wet) old tech not necessarily dead ;)

If it works - why change it :ok:

Much, much, prefer it to the previous generation.

But Vicky says... :)) "in her sultry voice"

jmcc42uk 29-07-2015 09:53 PM

Golf is boring. Subaru has a bit of edge to it

munk 30-07-2015 07:05 AM

Ha Ha :ok:

yeah, strap a turbo or charger on a mkiv R32 and it is what it should have been, 500bhp of proper fun, mine has 280 ish and to be honest feels like it needs more, and that is up from the standard 240.

Good shout mate would that be easy enough to do?? Or costly..would have one then.for.sure!:ok:

Had a play on the twisty bit up from Adenau to the Ring entrance with a supercharged R32 (I thought it was Si so went after him), lovely car and sure it would have left me on a longer straight but we were pretty equal on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th gear stuff, guess they're a lot heavier than a classic.
Still love the sound of yours Si.

Junior 14-08-2015 09:03 PM

You see alot of Golf R's on the road but they're so bloody pricey it's ridiculous. The old man keeps making noises about changing his Leon Supercopa derv and will more than likely go for another Leon, just this time a Cupra ST 280. More performance for less pennies is a no brainer for me!

New STi is growing on me as well, actually :)

555_Si 14-08-2015 09:18 PM

Red Baron - Yeah that was only about 350bhp, not a lot faster than mine, try it up against a 500bhp one! Still love mine.

£5k to £10k depending on how much you do yourself, but they are animals, you got to like the golf to start with though as there is faster kit out there.
