zeta ZTR10 tried to kill me!
 

Running these tyres and the other day i got caught in the rain. Turned in to a roundabout and completely lost the front end. I have no faith in these tyres in the damp what so ever. It handled like a wet slipper on the ice.
Been online and seen a few people complain of this so deciding to rip them off and destroy them as i cant face selling them to anyone.

Any tyre recommendations. Pretty much all dry driving but if i get caught in rain i do want to survive!!!!

The ones that different people like are as follows:
Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2
Hancoock Ventus V12 Evo 2
Vredestein Ultra Sensatas
Uniroyal Rain Sport

Don't quote me on the spelling on some of those.

Only ones I can speak for personally are Hancook Venus as I run them on the Daily Civic. I'm really happy with them and wouldn't hesitate to put a set on the Scoob, I think Big E runs the Hancook, the Eagle F1s and Toyo R888s and prefers the Eagle F1s for every day driving in all weathers.

got some bridgestone potenza (i think) on mine. cooking at the mo so cant go out to check. seem decent enough. came on the car from japan so not sure if you can get them here.

Michelin Pilot Super Sports can't beat them.

Plenty of tyre threads on here.... Eagle F1 AS2's if you can get them on a good deal, the Vredestein Sessantas are superb for the money as well.

yoko ad08's are good even in wet conditions.

Toyo proxes T1R seem to be good so far on the blob .

Are the Eagles Ok in the wet?

Excellent in pretty much all conditions.

They were on my wife's wagon when we got it. Fair weather tyres!

Toyo Poxies we ended up calling them.

Eagle F1s have been great on it so far.

I have Vredestein Sessantas on the Foz. Always been impressed, but they do tramline a bit as they wear.

The new Vortis (which I thought replaced the Sessantas but could be wrong) look good and as they're a symmetrical design I suspect they may not suffer with tramlining.

Eagle F1s for me, no complaints whatever the weather.

Well has been raining but not pushing the tyres to see what they can do but will be getting another set of tyres for the blob when we get another set of alloys .

I have had all of the above mentioned tyres on my WR1, with the exception of AD08's.

My personal order of preference of tyres I have run for a good all rounder is:

Goodyear Eagle F1 asymmetric 2s
Hankook V12 evos
Toyo T1rs
Vredesteins.

But depending on price I would like to try out Michelin Pilot Super Sports :doubleup:

I bet if I swapped your tyres while you were not looking, from one premium brand to another you wouldn't notice until the next time you blacked up your sidewalls.

Agreed there is not much difference between my top 2,

but I would certainly be able to tell the difference between the bottom 2.

The F1s are in my opinion are so much better than the toyos as an all rounder and out perform the others in the wet..

I agree you can feel the difference. I ran Power One tyres on my Gixer1000 and when i got offered a set of Diablo at a third of the price i jumped at it. 3 weeks later i will still struggling on them and felt they didnt hold the road and kept trying to slide under me.
I know its a massive preference thing and so many people are different. Thats why i wanted to ask..... see what peoples opinions are on it and whats a popular tyre.

I reckon I could tell the difference on a wet track in the first corner, if you took my eagles away!

I doubt I would notice immediately on the road or in the dry straight away. but the difference from one brand to the next is subtle at the top end, but there is a noticeable difference.

I would + 1 for the Eagle F1 for an all rounder, the last set I finished off lasted brilliantly and put up with a fair bit of track abuse too, Until something better comes along for wet track work I will be sticking with them too.
I have tried the Hankook v12's but only on a classic, they where good, but not anywhere near as good as the Goodyears in the wet, if anything they are super predictable, you know when they are reaching there limits in damp/wet conditions, where lesser tires simply let go.

There are some good tyre reviews online if you hunt around showing breaking distances wet/dry corner speeds/wet/dry etc for lots of tyres, all tested on the same vehicle etc.

I would NEVER fit budget tyres to a performance vehicle, its the biggest single performance upgrade you can do/undo to a car.

Recomending the Eagle F1 for the Newage by the way... It may well be a different kettle of fish in a lighter car (classic for example) that can generate as much heat in the tyre in the wet etc etc.

I agree with you on that. I'm no expert, but the feel of the Toyos was very different to the F1s in my experience.

My only FSTi comparison was from Potenzas to Vreds and the difference was clear... other than that it's summer to winter, which is bloody obvious!

Love my dump valve, it's added 15bhp on. My wrx sticker is another 10bhp and if I get some graphics down the side that's another 20bhp :calm:

Depends on what make of graphics you get, mine have added at least 25bhp. I would never buy cheap graphics!!

i left my van window open all nite and now have a wet seat.......

These were on my car when I bought it (thanks midlife2) as above very good all round tyre.:nod:

Hi Paul I had TR1s on the car before fitting the Pilot super sports and the difference in the ride was so much better. More planted and stable.

recommend the Eagle F1's too - just fitted 4 new ones on my new rims - £74.99 a corner from tyreleader :ok:

As Dave says - tyre is only thing keeping your car attached to the road - just my personal opinion, but I always try and buy the best tyre I can afford at the time :ok:
