clonking shocks shouldn't matter if there not too bad just don't try and set any lap records, clonking diff also won't matter to much just make sure it's got some fluid in it and it isn't leaking, np take it steady and don't chase E on the autobahn

Are you sure its not your backside knocking??

As said above a knocking shock should not be a problem. I hope

C. J. 20-05-2015 07:38 PM

Totally disagree Id either stick two cheap shocks and springs in the rear or not go . And I'd not try any hero stuff with it like that it'll spit you out of a corner .

scotty 20-05-2015 08:21 PM

Cheers for advice I will wait till what the garage says then decide what to do but it's weird as when moving off or going really slow makes a clunking noise but when doing normal speeds what ever that is lol I don't get a sound don't figure .

Scooby Si 20-05-2015 08:24 PM

In a straight line or around corners??

That's a shame.

Sounds like worn transmission / diffs mine can click/clonk a bit when idling along at pretty much any speed, quite and solid otherwise, other clonks in the transmission department I've read can be caused by driveshafts hub nuts not being torqued correctly, worn bushings etc.
If it's a gentle methodical clonking on idle/ very low load it can be as daft as different tyre pressures front to back causing slight difference in rolling circumferences of the wheels there by causing the diff to click a little as its wound up (hence why you shouldn't replace tyres with anything other than 4 identical ones on a scoob) I hope it's nothing serious dude. If you have DCCD then drive with it fully open (wound fully to the back) and see if the clonk remains

Looking at your ride height and how it was sat when loaded up I would suspect that it's either the rear ARB or the Drop Links bottoming out on the rear swing arm.

My Powerflex Rear Drop links bottom out on the CDF 24mm ARB before the bump stops of the shock. Depending on where you have an adjustable bar set depends on when/if they bottom out.

The Handbrake 20-05-2015 09:22 PM

Failing that jump in a ses scoob and join us xxxxx don't go home again

Definitely worth checking that, good thinking Scott.

Your scoob is certainly on the low side of slammed, Scotty ;) Add a boot full of gear into the mix and it might be something that simple!

That's true I will empty the boot when I'm at the garage then take the car for a small drive to check again would love to video it just to see what's happening under there .

Ginola 21-05-2015 09:39 AM

I will find later on today Dave .

drakesnow 21-05-2015 11:40 AM

Curious to know more about the clonking issue.

But have to agree on the ride height issue as well, generally these cars don't like being too low. What is your current height? (From edge to centre cap?

Wagon`s great thanks, running really sweet, was tempted to take it to Brands tonight but think a brake upgrade is required first even at my pace :oldman: don`t trust them like I do on the blob, would love to play with the set-up and push the limit a bit more. ;-)
