Lucky escape!

Just seen this on the BBC website from Coventry way:

Do you think he had something to do with it?

Anyone who hasn't seen Ironman 2 won't get this at all...

555_Si 23-11-2014 12:26 PM

looks a bit strange to me to split away so cleanly like that.

asperformance 23-11-2014 01:12 PM

very odd, would almost suspect a "cut n shut"........

Banstead Stig 23-11-2014 01:22 PM

Yeah, seems like something is not right there.

You don't see cars come apart like that very often.

I thought the same as you Alyn.

I'm surprised they didn't leave their legs behind.
You can see the kickplate that covers the ECU in the footwell on the passenger side.
I think that's the ABS ECU hanging down which is from the bottom of the centre console.

Car was only sold 2 weeks ago, I'd be asking a few questions to the seller/police!

scotty 23-11-2014 04:23 PM

Looks to be a cut and shut job to me .

ScoobyStu 23-11-2014 07:22 PM

The previous owner is on SIOC and seems genuine. It also seems he took great pride in the car too. Lucky escape though regardless.

For it to part so neatly like that it has to be, or its very organised rust.

I've noticed everyone's being very careful what they say, I would say lucky escape for him too.

Used to live about a quarter of a mile up the road from there for a few years, its a 40mph dual carriageway with a lot of big trees right on the roadside that would do a lot of damage if hit side on, but not to the extent to cut the front of the car off cleanly like that.

Looks dodgy to me....

A few have said cut n shut too, he's not responded that I've seen. Doesn't look great I have to say but the most important thing is nobody was seriously hurt.

Quick update on this. Apparently the police saw the whole thing, driver did nothing wrong just aquaplaned and rolled several times. Everyone is satisfied it was not a cut n shut. That's only what I've read so don't shoot the messenger :-)

Mortster 26-11-2014 09:27 PM

The photo's look grim, the back is all smashed up. And to be fair, you can see how the whole front has been torn off. Not sure about the speed they claim they were going though, that's some force required just to tear it off like that.
