It might finally be time to move on to something newer....

Evening All...

Well I've been thinking about it for a long time but never quite convinced myself to go for it, but I think it could finally be time to move on to a newer car.

I've had my Scoob over 10 years and it's come along way in the time I've owned it. Unfortunately that probably (definitely) means it's worth more to me than the 'for sale' market.

So, the question is what is it actually worth? I know it's a bit of a 'how long is a piece of string' sort of question but any thoughts from you guys are very welcome.

Car is (or was!) a '98 Turbo 2000. A UK car originally supplied by Bell and Coalville.

I know what you mean....my wife has a new merc and it makes mine seem old:-o

Nice spec, but condition will play a large part in its price. Rust on rear arches, dinks, scratches etc, etc. Most members probably know your car, but I don't get to meets much these days and can't picture the car. But a clean example with nice mods is worth good money in the current market..

Scooby Si 25-10-2014 08:39 PM

I'd like to think it's pretty clean for the age.

You forgot to add it sounds great too

I dont really know what it`s worth but its a nice scoob Si ,GLWTS :ok:

thepieman 25-10-2014 09:26 PM

Difficult to price.... It's taken me a while to put one on mine:cry: spend some time looking at all the ads and see whats about.... Try and price accordingly...

Only thing I can comment on is that it's a great car, having been round the nurburgring in it :ok: (thankyou). Performed faultlessly the whole Germany trip:drive:

GLWTS if you do decide to go through with it....

Scooby Si 26-10-2014 08:52 AM

Thanks for the comments guys... It is still a great car and I'm still enjoying driving it but 10 years is a long time!

As you say, it is so difficult to price. I've been looking at adds all over the place and there seems to be prices from £900 to £4500. I know these will vary based on condition etc.

While mine is pretty clean I'm aware it's not completely spotless but I'd like to think it's still one of the cleaner ones. I guess I shall have to keep looking and pick a number if I decide to go for it.

I suppose in the long run it is worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it ;)

Moley_WRX 26-10-2014 11:27 AM

The prices seem to be creeping up at the moment, especially for good cars.

Worth £4000-£4500 all day long in my opinion.

Understand your reasons for wanting to Sell Si, If its in all round good condition it could pay to hold onto it for a bit longer!! It certainly looks great in the flesh and goes very well too! What is the current mileage? very difficult to put a price on them these days, they are only going to go up now though.

GLWTS dude.. what are you thinking of replacing it with?

Scooby Si 26-10-2014 06:15 PM

Cheers Dave... It has just passed 104K. Not the lowest mileage ever I'm sure but not bad for 16+ years old.

Not completely decided on a replacement but have a few ideas depending on how much I get for the Scoob.

That's not bad mileage at all Si less than 10000 a year when you know what you want for it add extra on top for do the dealing with mate .

GLWTS Si...I spy a Leon Cupra R splitter on the front too.....

To help with the price, mine sold for £5995 4 weeks ago (perhaps I could of got more if I had actually advertised is....but like you say prices are all over the place), currently showing 63,300miles on the clock.

.
But then I changed my mind and kept it.
Mine also started out as a UK Turbo 2000.

Scooby Si 27-10-2014 07:23 AM

Yep... Before some cutting and shaping, the splitter was intended for a Leon Cupra R ;)

Thanks for the info on price, I know mine isn't as clean as yours and has a few more miles but it's still a useful reference!

ScoobyStu 27-10-2014 10:40 AM

It's a nice example mate. Only sell it for what you feel it's worth, not worth doing otherwise. GLWTS :-)

Scooby Si 31-10-2014 11:13 PM

Test driving a possible replacement tomorrow... :fool:

BIG"E" 01-11-2014 12:49 PM

So what are you test driving,

what's more to the point will it go round the Ring?

Scooby Si 01-11-2014 09:05 PM

I'm pretty sure after everything I saw earlier in the year, anything can go around the ring!! ;)
