help on exhaust headers

Hey guys getting a lot of mixed reviews from people about exhaust headers my standard one is cracked and blowing badly so was thinking of getting a replacement one, but a performance one, but my question is people keep saying to me that it will make the car lag is this true
Thanks

Unless your chasing big power figures, go with some standard ones, but get them ported. Easy job to do with a dremel and a little patience.

Use the gasket as a guide to where you can grind too, and give them a 45o edge. ;-)

I not going for big power gains but I do prefer the sound of a good header but does it make the car lag

i thought that performance headers improved spool and reduce lag

Tubular will not improve spool as they are generally larger therefore gasses flow slower and reduce spool, a matched up-pipe can help but ported is usually best up to around 400bhp

Oh I am just going for a performance header it's basically slightly better for smoothness it's not tubular

I have stainless headers and they have also cracked a few times. I am going to wrap it, to prolonge the life a little longer. Mine is quite laggy but it was on the car when I bought it.

Change the type of header , then don't forget to at least get a power run or co one with afr meter to check or it could be expensive .
If it was me I'd stay standard up to 400bhp ported or not :)
