Insurance dilemma?

Hi,
Would appreciate any feedback on my Insurance dilemma.
Mine is up for renewal on the blob with our favourite SES insurance company , renewal price is less than last years by £55 which in my book is great.

Without putting a hex on things I`ve been lucky (or skillful imo :-D) only having to talk to someone at renewal time for many years now so cannot compare how anyone performs at claim time.

The issue I have is having checked online with the usual comparison sites and some independents the quotes range from £250 to £380 cheaper with the same details listed.

What would you do? Stay with who you know and feel confident if the worse happens you will be looked after or take a chance and money with another `reputable` company.

Would welcome any comments,
Thanks,
Steve

I had this dilemma with Mrs Stig's renewal, although the numbers were far more marginal.

We stuck with what we knew as the overall service was bob on. The extra level of service is worth the money to us, even just at renewal.

I'd say speak to SES's favourite broker and he may be able to have a look in more detail to see if he can do something?

I guess that's because the car is near standard? We all know Gary is the man when it comes to mods :ok:

For that extreme price difference I'd go with the cheapest quote, but i'm surprised KM is that far off the mark. Have you told him the other quotes to see what he can do?

Gary's a top chap to deal with and I'm happy insuring our cars through him, but if you have a bump it'll probably be outsourced through a claims company anyway (this happened when someone drove into Claire's car in the snow last year). And then it's pot luck i guess....

Personally i think claims companies are the scum of the earth, up there with No Win No Fee solicitors :splat:

go with the cheapest if everything else is the same between companies imho

I only go with keith Michaels as Gary is there. The rest of the firm isn't too good whenever I ring and can border on rude. I can only imagine how much business Gary brings in for the company.
Without him bye bye Subaru owners.

I would say if it's a like for like quote then you have to think about switching if there is that sort of difference. I would ring gary, tell him what you have and see what he can do.

Speak to Gary...

One thing to bear in mind that nobody has mentioned is:

If you are with Gary he can arrange track day cover.

Thanks for all your comments,
I will try and track down the main man :ninja:
Cheers,
Steve

I spend most of my day speaking to people who have very cheap prices online, and 95% come back to us as the online price rockets when you get to the point of paying for it.

(Online quote of £900 that increased to £2800 was a prime example).

Don't read anything into internet prices, always ring the company quoting that cheap price to make sure it's the same level of cover, without nasty t&c's that you have now.

Hidden tracker endorsements, £3000+ excess, tpft cover instead of comp cover are very common, and most excluded 3rd party on other cars, and normally double in price if you pay on DD.

I can't promise we'll always be the cheapest, but the level of cover we provide is VERY good.

Unfortunately in the last few days we've had to claim on Rachel's policy after someone drove down the side of her car and drove off.... and so far I've been very very impressed with the claims service provided by the insurers.

Normally with these online quotes if it seems too good to be true it normally is.

Thanks Gary,

I thought on the phone today you said Simon had modified your car with a scratch down the side. NOT someone had modified it.
Sorry to hear that Gary.

thepieman 14-05-2014 11:35 AM

Sorry to hear about the car Gary....! Been there before and not nice to come back too!!

This is the thing I was trying to get over on the last insurance thread... Gary, although trying his best cannot always be as competitive as he would like... The great thing is with him though, is that he always try's his best and will always offer advice and help even if you have to go some where else....

Having sold the B Gary has been unable to get near a recent quote for the daily driver that will replace it but has been 100% with his help and advice for needing to go elsewhere...... The replacement is not modified and as such the policies he has available are not suited to the new car. Has always been better for me on all the other cars though...

Sure he will help you out Steve even if he can't do anything with your renewal..

Just to add, quick thanks to Gary for all the recent help and for all we spoke about today:ok: top man
