Bit left over from engine refit!!
Hey folks,
I need some more advice. The engine it's rebuilt and back in but..... There's one piece left over!!! Can anyone tell me what it is and where it is supposed to live, please? http://i721.photobucket.com/albums/w...psll7fvmyj.jpg http://i721.photobucket.com/albums/w...psrsfsrypd.jpg |
Jeez..... I hope this isn't important....
|
Mounting plate for something at a guess. Are there any obvious bolt holes on the inner wings, bulkhead or suspension turrets that look like something is missing?
|
We can't see anything missing or anywhere it fits! It looks a quite substantial member....
|
Looks like it has a fair amount of oil on it so guessing it's under the engine somewhere.
|
That's what we thought... but not a single set of holes that align! We're a bit worried in case it's the single most important bit! :-\

Looks like a top mount intercooler bracket but I'm sure you would have noticed if that was missing unless of course you've gone front mount
|
I've got custom mounts. Its being returned to standard.
We thought it was an I/C mount but no holes align. |
turbo heatshield bracket maybe ?

On the newage it's a little different and easier to take this off if fitting gauges to get to No.3 blanking hole. But on classic I've never had to remove it. |

Hahaha!!
What an idiot!!!! I think my dad made a custom mount because we'd taken this one off and couldn't find it!!!! Good eBaying Andy THANKS A LOT GUYS..... problem solved... |
Replace the heat shield with a blanket.
No need to fabricate missing brackets ;) |
its the turbo/up-pipe steady that bolts across the up-pipe and against the bell housing
|
That is the turbo/up pipe support I pig to fit with turbo and up pipe in place
I would fit it as turbo and up pipe will flex a possibly crack etc. |
