Hows you morse code?

Under the drivers side dash are two sets of connectors, a green set and a black set.

Its easier if you pop the lower half of the dash off. Once this id done, push the two black ones together, then turn the ignition on, but don't start it.

Grab a pen and some paper, it will take a few attempts.

A long flash is a ten, a short flash is a unit, ie two long flashes followed by two short flashes is code 22, if you miss it, turn it off and on again, or let it run through, it will sit there repeating the codes. If there's more than once stored, its probably easier to start it again.

Then just look up the codes.

Has it not got a OBD port that you can read the fault codes?

OBD wasn't fitted to Scoobs until late 98.
Some MY97/98 have OBD ports, probably the MY98's. The earlier ones just have the Subaru Select Monitor connector, as per MY93-96.

By any chance is the port to the left of the fuse box as I found one when cleaning the inside of the car and where can you buy the code readers .

Looked at his name (bugeyedave) and not the details in his post.
