Which Anti-Virus are you using
Just wondering what Anti-Virus software people are using? Are you using it on multiple devices and is it free or whats the cost.Rob(Coops) has suggested Comodo, anybody else using this?
Thanks. |
Bull guard been using it for years costs I think £35 a year yes on muti devices and updates all the time and does not slow anything down either

Avast Free, AVG Free and Microsoft Security Essentials are all worth considering especially if you are using Windows 7 or 8. Which? magazine rated MSE better than the other 2 and also better than a lot of paid alternatives. In my own test using an XP computer Avast did a better job than the other 2.

Avast here too, its free :)
|
used to use Kaspersky and Panda, now use an Enterprise security product that's not available for home users, as I am just used to using it.

Microsoft Security Essentials & CCLeaner
|
I pay for AVG`s all singing/dancing protection, tiddlywinks use AVG free, also use rapport (free) on certain sites, not had any issues to date but always wary :ninja:

Kaspersky
|
AVG free on my PC and my android phone.
Have used it for about 18yrs now. |
None. Windows 8 is pretty secure and AV just slows things down!
Haven't had a virus in years as it all depends on what you click on anyway. |

Used to manage a Panda enterprise setup in my previous place, had so many problems with it that i'm now friends with one of the UK support techs as i spoke to him virtually every day until the 3 yr contract expired  |
Sophos
|
AVG with no problems and its free.
|
I use MSE on 2 of the 3 desktops at home, the other runs nothing as its linux and I don't care about it. MSE is free and much less intrusive than other AV software. The others are all heavier on disc I/O which irritates me and wastes I/O read/writes on my SSD raid! I would not rule out using Avast, a couple of colleague's use it and are happy with it.. most Dev's I know wont use any, they say it takes the fun out of using the interwebs ;)
I occasionally run M'bam when I think I have clicked on something dodgy or a link Steve or Ian sent me ;) Viruses are much less of a problem these days in comparison to malware/crappy security flaws in SSL certificates? ;) |
Avast free here too, though I used Sophos for many years. Both goog.
|
avast free. No problems in in years .
|
On my gaming rig, its avg, and a Mcfeeeeee. Mcfeeeee is fairly resource draining, but ive set it to scan during the wee hours of the morning.
On the lap tops, just avg. |
Avast for me.
Using it on all mobiles and pc. |
Don't have anything running windows anymore:doh:
On the old pc stuff, always just used Microsoft Security Essentials with Superantispyware and Malwarebytes........always seemed to do the trick and all for free... tried most of the usual anti-virus programs and the free stuff seems just as good at the job you want it for but also less labour intensive... Just got rid of some malware type rubbish on sister in laws laptop which was running a paid up version of Norton! now running the three above with Norton all removed:nod: |
AVG Free
|
Thanks for all the info guys. Will have a look at the options.
