Head gasket replacement cost

Guys n gals, does anyone know roughly how much it would cost to get a head gasket replaced on a 52 plate WRX wagon?

Looking at around £650 -£800 depending where abouts you go. (That's only a rough idea as never had one done on a scooby).
Thought I was going to have to have it done though when I first bought it

That's sort of what I was expecting. It's about the same as it cost on my old Cossie. I've seen a wagon which the owner reckons is in need of a new one. All depends what sort of price the car goes for. Could end up quite a cheap project.

Or very expensive if it needs more than HG's!

Mine is showing symptoms of minor HG failure and at a minimum I'm having the block split and checked which means new seals & probably bearings, you may also be looking at a skim as well.

£650 - £800 sounds low to me, based on having seen the bills people are generally faced with when this happens.

If it is the difference between buying a car or not, I would suggest you up that budget a bit, else you may be in for a nasty surprise.

Probably nearer 1000-1200 but depending how the hg s gone may need a rebuild.

Engine out on a scoob. So a bit different to a cossie where you just take the rocker cover and head off.
