Spec D will loose value quite quickly. They are already cheap in standard form compared to the regular sti hawk.

scooby doo 22-01-2014 03:38 PM

Ok so wipe that out what's your thoughts on the spec c?? To much??
I know midlife has a type 20 for 10k but that's a 2.5 and there both non wide track

BIG"E" 22-01-2014 04:09 PM

The spec C..

SpecB 22-01-2014 04:53 PM

Spec C

Lucky 22-01-2014 05:18 PM

mmm... I'm going to throw a curve ball on this one. That Spec d has been sorted by the looks of it, i.e forged engine, suspension sorted etc, so should prove to be good reliable power. Its also 4 years newer than the spec c and will probably feel a lot newer to drive. By changing the spoiler for an STi one its no longer a spec D as everything else mechanically and cosmetically outside is the same as a Crystal grey STI. I guess the only compromise is whether you like the black leather, but even that can be switched for not a lot of money. Personally I'd lose the later wheels, but that's just me.

The V9 Jdm also looks nice, but if it was my money it would be going the way of the hawk.

The only downside I can see is the £490 tax on the hawk.

Having said all that, I'd quite happily have any of them as they all look good.

scooby doo 22-01-2014 05:54 PM

Lucky you are right forged, brakes , spot on power and full suspension. The interior would be swapped out for sti version, the spec d is still an sti not toned down just a sleeper look as lower wing and leather etc but a spec c is built from stock as a track weapon which is more of what I'm aiming for,

Banstead Stig 22-01-2014 06:32 PM

The Spec D has been worked on by James (GRD), so worth a call to him I'd say if you are interested.

SpecB 22-01-2014 07:51 PM

Not wishing to upset anybody but I wouldn't personally think a car that's been in GRDs hands is a good thing given a number of people's experiences (mine included).

Danwrx 22-01-2014 07:53 PM

Have you thought about another classic benji http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Subaru-Imp...p2047675.l2557

Danwrx 22-01-2014 08:03 PM

Shi*t just seen listing has ended, sorry

Scott.T 22-01-2014 10:34 PM

Jdm gets my vote.
Don't like the wrc spoiler on the spec c. Shouldn't it have a black carbon time attack type spoiler.

Mortster 22-01-2014 11:10 PM

What about some else rare?

I thought they were only std on the S203 version?

Anger 23-01-2014 05:48 AM

S202 not S203 as they came with the same spoiler as a RA-R ;)

SpecB 23-01-2014 06:45 AM

Only 1 out, not a bad effort!

bonner 23-01-2014 09:57 AM

Why not keep what youve got and turn that into a track weapon? youve thrown a fair amount into it and it looks the nuts!!!!just keep building it put a forged lump in bigger turbo ect your end up loosing money and be back to sqaure 1 again the bug looks lovely mate keep hold of it and turn it into an animal!!

scooby doo 23-01-2014 10:18 AM

Becuase it doesnt have all the features like dccd , widetrack, quick rack, auto i/c spray and twin scroll etc etc so already starting on a better platform, the bug is going to need 500-1000 pound on suspension mods for what i really want and then the engine £1500 to make it over 400hp etc plus is in really great nick to start track daying i think

bonner 23-01-2014 10:38 AM

Fair play mate if i was in your position id just get a quick rack add aquamist get a turbo and put a 2.5 lump in and fit some coilovers nice bug mate i can see you missing it!!

drakesnow 23-01-2014 11:55 AM

I thought your bottom end would be good to 4-450 no problem Benji? I would do baffled sump plate and a few other odds and ends but your not far off.

And yes I agree you will need some suspension mods, but that + bigger turbo (buy a decent second hand one) and you might be better off?

I like all three of those cars btw ;)

tbtstt 23-01-2014 12:49 PM

Could have at least got the right WRC spolier for the blob.

As much as I have a hard on for Spec C's, the V9 would be my pick there.

scooby doo 23-01-2014 01:09 PM

engine can take 500hp ask jgm hes proved it lol
sc40 turbo or 20g min is 500 if 2nd hand,
injectors £150 car will make 400hp and be happy

Baffled sump plate will be in what ever i choose

suspension,
Geo,
front and rear arb's
quick rack
bushes,links, etc
aquamist etc all starts adding up alot
when spec c is fit set of 888's decent pads and discs and enjoy
plus the bug will be a nice daily driver for someone with lots of fun and more potenail if some one wants that, ive got my eye on two cars atm so would like to sell the bug, prob put on fleabay over the weekend if weather holds up

simba 23-01-2014 03:59 PM

save a bit more and get worzels car (spocks beard ) that's a great car everything done on it

BIG"E" 23-01-2014 05:48 PM

The Spec C will hold its value, but is 03, wants for a set of tires and almost ready for track. (maybe some better brakes) the weight saving for track stuff would get me all excited! the rear spoiler looks awful.

The Spec D has had the most amount of money thrown at it, love the brakes.. not to sure on the engine build its 2.5....It still needs an oil cooler for track work? from GRD??..dono on this., makes me sus when someone mentions problems as Nick has, at least get this checked by someone who knows there stuff before purchasing. this would also depreciate the fastest,.. probably worth the most in bits!

The JDM has done the most miles, its widetrack.. (bonus for an extra few mm here and there. - this will drive different to an earlier model though not sure on the size/geo of the spec C from standard? someone with better knowledge might be able to shed some light?)
This car would hold its value quite well, though not as well as the Spec C.. would definitely want new brakes for track work.

All will want baffled sump
Personally If the Spec C was really really tidy when you looked at it and everything checked out + you can line up a new rear spoiler for it.. then I would probably go with that as its just that little bit more special. ;) ... ask the guy with the D if you can take the brakes for your spec C ;)

Banstead Stig 23-01-2014 09:08 PM

There's a nice widetrack blob for sale on Surrey Scoobies at the moment. UK car, so perhaps not what you are after.

He had a FSTi but sold it for the ISTi and a mile muncher, but has hardly driven the Impreza because his circumstances changed... met a woman and went to the US... he's marrying her now, so making the move our there permanently.

Might be worth a look.

Banstead Stig 23-01-2014 09:58 PM

Wonder why it doesn't have a STi steering wheel.

Mine doesn't thanks to the importer replacing the airbag with a normal XT one to clear the warning light which came on when it arrived off the boat... div.

Could be that, but could just as easily be due to having been in an accident.

Anger 24-01-2014 04:54 AM

Problem with Daz's it a JDM without the JDM engine or twinscroll, what are the parts you buy a JDM for

MSR2012 24-01-2014 06:58 AM

Dazs is my old JDM, the only query i would have are the photos are from when i sold it to him and not current. It was mint when i sold it to him. The steering wheel was like that when i bought it, didt bother me tbh. It was a totally standard JDM when i bought it, even still unmapped from japan.

Anger 24-01-2014 07:03 AM

Plus he has put a VF35 on it.... Might aswell keep his uk STi he has

scooby doo 24-01-2014 09:42 AM

Daz's is a no simple fact isnt true jdm and be paying more insurance for only half a jdm car

scotty 24-01-2014 11:56 AM

Spec c would be my choice .
