Are all bug eye sti imprezas prodrive models ?
 

I'm on my way to look at a 2002 wrx sti bug eye it's registered as a wrx sti prodrive I was just wondering if the came with the prodrive kit as standard or was it a optional extra when new ?

Depends, is it a prodrive styled one, or a ppp kit. could even be both?
Prodrive style makes stock 265hp just bumper.skirts and Momo steering wheel
ppp kit 301hp.
if it has prodrive on the log book its one of the limited edition pro drive styled edition will need the ppp certificate to prove its had the ppp kit fitted

On the log book it says wrx sti prodrive but he has misplaced the PPP certificate

What is included in the PPP kit ?

The PPP on the bugeye STI was a sports-cat downpipe, centre pipe decat, prodrive backbox, possibly a walbro fuel pump (not sure which year they started doing this) plus a basic prodrive ecu map. Most bugeyes just had a daughterboard fitted to the ECU to manage the boost control and raise the boost a bit so power was around 300bhp instead of 260ish.

If it has this front bumper with the swooping fog covers, then its a Prodrive styled bugeye.

I'm sure that Prodrive didn't change the steering wheel - my UK bugeye WRX even has a Momo wheel as standard ;)

Yeah it has the same fog light covers and bumper as the one in the pic but has had the complete exhaust changed to a hks system including the headders so I can't tell if it had the PPP pack fitted will the ecu have a prodrive sticker on it if it had a PPP fitted ?

They did the steering wheels, my type uk sti bug has sti grey 3spoke wheel, all the prodrive models ive seen have the momo and blue dials were as i have black, and my 02 has ppp pump fitted but the ppp wasnt fitted at new was later on. to be fair the ppp isnt really much point unless you plan to keep the car stock,
mine only has the ppp pump left lol, rest has been upgraded

makes sold all difference now, if full decatted and headers pray its been mapped again, otherwise will be running lean.........

It's 358bhp he's got a print out so it's defo been mapped but I will be getting everything checked out to be on the safe side

I haven't picked it up yet I've payed a deposit will be picking it up Saturday after work I can't wait I love getting a new car I'm like a kid at Crimbo lol

if its been mapped the lack of ppp certificate is irrelevant, the the PPP has been over-written.
However it may have a prodrive foil sticker on the b pillar or door shut placed there when it was ppp'd which was their way of informing the owner to advise their insurer.

Right slight problem the bloke I'm buying the car off just called me saying it has developed a slight missfire and it hesitates but then clears and revs and boosts as normal it's only a slight misfire he has offered to knock £250 off the price to cover the cost of repair was just wondering what the likely cause could be and if the £250 will cover it I drove the car earlier and it was spot on ?

could be cold weather, could be something more worrying - where is he in relation to nearest specialist?

Thinking about it I did go through a rather large puddle on the test drive could this have caused it ?

Gamble. Could it be the signs of a head gasket?? Doubt it would be a puddle there coil packs not leads like earlier years. Or could just be something silly like a plug breaking down or a coil to.

Big puddles and mafs don't mix.
I would at least give it time to dry out or get him to dry it out.

I've now got him to £500 off the asking price it's gotta be worth a gamble at that price it's just really frustrating because I took it for a good half hour test drive and it was fine didn't missfire once from what I've found online the most likely cause is the maf sensor is there anyone local to me that has a spare I can try before I commit to buying a new one I'm happy to give someone a drink if they can help me out or even pay someone if they can sort it out for me ?

go there with a can of intake cleaner, remove maff, gently at around 20-30cm away from it blast it with the carb cleaner, it will dry itself refit with everything clean, if solves it job done, if not then your choice mate,
