Which New Turbo

OK, I need to ask Father Christmas for a new turbo. But I have no idea which one to choose

Engine spec as follows:

Engine Tuner built 2.1 (CDB) built last april done around 5k miles
Engine fully rebuilt.
2.0 CDB rear thrust conversion
Fitted with 79mm Version 9 nitrided crankshaft to make 2.1 litre
Wiseco pistons with uprated pins
K1 H beam rods
ACL Race engine bearings
Fully balanced assembly
Overhauled standard spec cylinder heads
Roger Clark Motorsport uprated oil pump
Roger Clark Motorsport Large Air Filter
Cosworth head stud kit
Cosworth head gaskets
Cosworth sump baffle
New cam belt
New tensioners
New water pump
TGV delete

Fuelab FPR
DW300 Fuel pump
Sard 800cc injectord
Hybrid FMIC
WMS 3 unequal length headers (DEi titanium wrapped)
Blitz Nur Spec R
RCM rotated turbo kit (DEi titanium wrapped)
Tial 38mm Ext wastegate
RCM Induction
3 bar map sensor
Apexi AVC-R
Alcatek ECU
HKS SSQV
Precision Billet 5831 turbo (DEI titanium turbo blanket)
BC BR coilovers
6 speed gearbox

Before the turbo died Simon had it running at 460HP. I believe the Precision Billet 5831 is not a common turbo and presume to replace it with something more commonly fitted to scoobies. GT30? Target HP was about 500.

Thanks

Alan ;)

Gt 30 on a .62 housing :)

I have an AFP TD05 16g With only 6k available.
Simon tuned it up @ SRR but I liked the smaller TD04 as I can be trusted in a car doing +340bhp & +150mph!

Will swap for an Apexi PFC with commander for my UK T2000 MY99 facelift.

Don't think that'll make 500hp !

stock position or twisted kit?

go twisted but its expensive if you can.

what about the s206 turbo that engine tuner do? heard they make good power?

C. J. 31-10-2013 05:44 PM

It's already twisted on a t3 flange so he needs turbo , filter , cone , intake hose which I way have a spare bit and a new header tank & water pipe for the back of the head .
The precaution turbo was designed for air cooled engines !

Did anyone apart from Chris read the spec list above lol

As above GT30 .63AR should be best option.

Precision Turbo is not very common on Subaru,if yes then in USA where people using larger Precision, many friends running Precision Turbo on their Honda and they're very happy with them

I would go with GT30,great turbo and which will make easily 500bhp,I think someone selling GT30 .63AR V-band for £700 over on SN,which is great price

Conversion from V-Band to T3/T4 housing can be done easily like via swapping the housing or adaptor plate(APT selling those adaptors)

A good gt30 is good for 600bhp. ive got one but im not looking at that sort of power from my engine. so for the wright price I will let it go.

Thanks for the suggestions :)

CJ, thanks again for explaining exactly what I need and describing my setup above :ok:

Jura, I've been reading a few threads over at SN where you've contributed so thanks for your input too ;)

If anyone stumbles across a suitable turbo for sale please point me in the right direction

The GT30 is looking to be favourite so far. As I have a rotated kit already I'm presuming it's best to keep this rather than removing it to fit something like an S206. Any comments on the spool of the GT30? The Precision seemed quite laggy and kicked in much later than the TD05 on my Type R.

Thanks again for all your help

Have look on this thread

http://bbs.scoobynet.com/subaru-part...63-billet.html

Its ScoobyClinic GT30 V-Band and as I said you can easily swap exhaust housing for normal T3/T4 exhaust housing, those cost around £100-£250

Those Precision Turbo are usually Journal/Thrust Bearing turbo and they should spool OK,but as I above said,on some cars they works or some no
