Ah, so you did it in the end mate, guess the mapping issues are all sorted then :D

Nice one, what power did it make?

Ginola 02-10-2013 07:26 PM

oh nice! that looks like it has a rotated setup on it :o give us all the details :)

C. J. 02-10-2013 07:28 PM

2.1 I'd guess at :)

Hongkongfooi 02-10-2013 07:29 PM

Looks great.....you still have the type r as well?

SamSTI 02-10-2013 07:29 PM

Very nice!! what's the spec??

Anger 02-10-2013 07:30 PM

Wiley's old car

alfa male 02-10-2013 07:32 PM

Still have the Type R and I want to drive the two scoobs for a short while before deciding what to do next

I'll get some more pics up soon when it's had a clean :polish:

jonnyricer5 02-10-2013 07:51 PM

Good show you dont hang about do you!

Anger 02-10-2013 07:54 PM

Wiley said 550 was expected didn't he

alfa male 02-10-2013 07:56 PM

What turbo?

Anger 02-10-2013 07:58 PM

Says it on the spec list

alfa male 02-10-2013 08:00 PM

Ah! Precision Billet 5831 turbo, ta! :fool:

ScoobyStu 02-10-2013 08:19 PM

Saw this on ScoobyNet too. Lovely well spec'd motor.

Bytes 02-10-2013 09:08 PM

I think 550 is a bit unrealistic from what Simon said today. Turbo seemed fine, but Ver 6 heads/cams will hold it back and with an uprated fuel pump such as the Bosch 044, 500HP is more likely.

Banstead Stig 02-10-2013 09:10 PM

Nice.

In the top pic is Simon off to stab someone?!

Bolesroor 02-10-2013 09:24 PM

Nice one Alan  You do like em uprated don`t you :-D

Scott.T 02-10-2013 09:36 PM

Nice Alan, pleased it was what you expected.

Bytes 02-10-2013 10:31 PM

I work with computers now and although I did a bit of mechanics with my dad I would struggle with most things on scoobies. So having 'em already uprated is the perfect solution for me :)

I do have a friend with a pit, so hopefully I can get my hands dirty from time to time

Oh, and whilst at the mapping session a pale blue coloured WR1 turned up for a tune

big fud 03-10-2013 09:25 AM

You beat me to it buddy fuel set up that will see 500-450 all day :)

Nice motor.

Bytes 03-10-2013 11:05 AM

Cheers fud, I thought I saw you enquire about the car over on SN ;) Wiley's already suggested a replacement fuel pump ... no pressure then

Anger 03-10-2013 11:08 AM

I would use a secondary pump with swirl pot if your going to drive the car hard.... I had cutting out issues over 450bhp when taking corners hard

C. J. 03-10-2013 11:40 AM

Second that and will have a pot for sale soon as binning the oe tank :)

EXEVO3 03-10-2013 12:04 PM

More greedy people!!! Hmmmm

Bytes 03-10-2013 01:33 PM

Thanks for the suggestion James :) I'll have a bit of a read around.

... as long as having 2 fuel pumps isn't being too greedy :-P

kartingsteve 07-10-2013 08:22 AM

Very nice done well there :ok:

drakesnow 07-10-2013 03:30 PM

Very cool car, can't wait to see it !

impreza27 07-10-2013 07:19 PM

That's a nice looking car mate

SamSTI 07-10-2013 07:23 PM

Very nice looking Scoob.

Bytes 08-12-2013 02:57 PM

Things are moving slowly at last! Refurbed turbo has now arrived and should be fitted in the next couple of days, then car off to have the remap completed. Hoping there won't be any more problems .... :angst:

Dont no how i missed this one that looks proper mean!! Got the best wheels on too!!

Bytes 13-12-2013 10:49 AM

Big thanks to Neil @ Slowboy Racing for looking at the turbo :)

Unfortunately as the pipework required some extensive fabrication Neil suggested the car be taken to TFS Racing for the work to be undertaken.

Life's never simple .....

Bytes 19-12-2013 01:20 PM

Turbo fitted and pipework fabricated thanks to TFS. However, turbo is making more noise than it should and Simon suggested it be returned rather than mapped.

Can't believe the bad luck I'm having with this car....

Steve_PPP 19-12-2013 01:28 PM

Doh :(

Stick with it mate, it'll be worth it in the end.

Scott.T 19-12-2013 09:46 PM

Not good Alan, I feel for you.

I am beginning to have doubts about a lot of these hybrid turbo's.
You seem to see many issues and I have also seen turbo's of this type and cars fitted with this type quoting that the turbo's have had recent rebuilds/overhauls.
Is this really to be expected after spending £1000 - £2000 on what is basically a fan, an exhaust housing, a snail, bearings and oil seals....the OE turbos seem to last and last without requiring any attention.

Bytes 03-04-2014 08:51 PM

Quick update....

Turbo returned & fitted mid March. Car put back on road 2nd April & overheated on its first outing of less than 15 miles, both coolant and oil :-(

.... gutted :deadhorse:

I think it's time to break it mate. .......

Oh crap dude :( , how hot did they both get? It might not be terminal..

Bytes 03-04-2014 10:31 PM

Oil temp hit 120 and set off a warning. Coolant blew off the lid and steamed nicely ....

I'll wait for Neil to have a look at the damage before deciding what to do, but I'm not hopeful

Ginola 03-04-2014 11:17 PM

Oil at 120 is hot, but not hot enough to do damage.. (I have run hotter on circuit..) fingers crossed for you dude, I hope its something silly and fixable.

Hongkongfooi 04-04-2014 07:44 AM

Your luck doesn't get any better Alan does it:sad:

Steve_PPP 04-04-2014 08:31 AM

Is the engine still covered by any warranty from enginetuner?

Anger 04-04-2014 04:37 PM

I doubt it after it's had work done by others

Bytes 05-04-2014 11:16 AM

It seems there's a leak on the passenger side towards the front of the car. Rose coloured liquid (presume this is coolant)

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...ageek/Leak.jpg

Not sure if this is good news or not :angst:

Anger 05-04-2014 11:19 AM

If the coolant overflowed, couldn't it be still from that

Bytes 05-04-2014 11:24 AM

I don't think so as when I checked after parking up the car it seemed quite dry. Also there's a definite drip which I can collect in a jar (that's how I know what colour it is). I also checked the same spot under where the car had been parked from mid March until 2nd April and found evidence of what looks to be the same leak...

Bytes 29-05-2014 12:06 PM

OK, back with an update....

Huge thanks to Neil @ slowboy racing for sorting out the coolant problems prior to me driving very apprehensively to SRR this morning, trying not to use boost :paranoid:

Simon & Charlie did their stuff and after a short while the car made a conservative 447.5 HP at 1.7 bar. There's room for more but after 8 months of grief I didn't want to risk pushing things any further ....

So, a much happier ride home and now I'm going to have to start spending money on petrol

Anger 29-05-2014 12:10 PM

Nice one mate and glad you can start to enjoy it :)

Red Baron 29-05-2014 12:26 PM

Glad you've got her sorted at last.

Mainly relief!! Mostly motorway miles, but it was good to know I could use boost if needed. ;)

Rdlangy1 29-05-2014 08:39 PM

good figures - and glad things seem sorted now :ok:

Lucky 29-05-2014 09:25 PM

Good news indeed. Look forward to seeing it at a meet soon

Subaru Collector 555 30-05-2014 10:43 PM

Lovely looking motor you have there :-)

Regards,

Subaru Collector 555.

Slowboy-racing 01-06-2014 09:09 PM

Excellent news :)

Hongkongfooi 01-06-2014 09:47 PM

excellent news. I see you have the same clutch as me....how you finding it?

Bytes 01-06-2014 10:20 PM

The clutch is taking a little getting used to! It judders a bit in 1st and reverse making it difficult to get away smoothly unless applying a few revs.

However, I haven't had much chance to drive the car yet, other than a few motorway miles....

Bytes 29-06-2014 01:39 PM

Reverse scoop fitted and front splitter temporarily removed ...

that front splitter had better go back:cath:

Ginola 29-06-2014 08:03 PM

Looks better with the splitter I'm with Tim on this one ;)

Bytes 12-07-2014 02:19 PM

MOT on Monday, then the splitter's going back on in time for the July SES meet in Crowborough.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...k/RevScoop.jpg

Steve_PPP 12-07-2014 05:21 PM

Be good to see it at the meet mate, I haven't seen it since I collected some kits from Wiley a few years ago (just after the hawk conversion).

Bytes 20-07-2014 11:14 AM

Following some interest in the rear brakes, here's a couple of pics

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2.../RearBrake.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...RearBrake2.jpg

No 5mm spacers I could see either. The tyre is quite close to the coilovers, but I couldn't get a decent pic, so perhaps I'll stay with the 235 tyre width.

Bytes 24-07-2014 06:35 PM

Another big thanks to Neil @ slowboy racing for spending some time with the car today :) Engine oil & filter changed, back box replaced, general once over ;-)

... brakes inspected and condemned

So, that's new tyres and brakes next

Bytes 24-07-2014 08:23 PM

The discs are fading on the front and will need replacing soon too :angst:

wiley 21-02-2015 03:36 PM

Hey Alan

Any latest updates mate

Nice seeing the old girl

Wiley

Steve_PPP 22-02-2015 08:07 PM

Welcome to SES Wiley

The wheels have gone gunmetal but thats all I can remember :D Sure Alan will be along soon.....

Bytes 22-02-2015 08:31 PM

Hi Wiley

yep, wheels are now anthracite following a refurb and new Vredstein rubber fitted. Reverse scoop and new boot lid with spoiler to be fitted now they have been sprayed in 02C Blue. Brakes next on the list as is a tweak to the mapping as hoses keep coming off under the bonnet during quick acceleration.

I'll get some pics up when some of the work has been done and the weather's better ;)

jmcc42uk 13-03-2015 09:41 PM

What size is that front plate?

jmcc42uk 13-03-2015 10:07 PM

Also, where did you get it?

Thanks

Jon

Bytes 14-03-2015 08:55 AM

The front plate was on the car when I bought it

wiley 01-03-2017 10:38 AM

my old whip, hows it running?

wiley

Steve_PPP 01-03-2017 10:51 AM

Not seen Alan at a meet for a while. Hopefully he still has the car and its still going strong :)
