Looks good apart from the knocking of course

simba 25-09-2013 05:44 PM

2.5k max

scooby doo 26-09-2013 09:14 AM

ive offered the guy £2000 for it, with the thinking £2-2500 fresh rebuild. my thoughts are probely det from a non mapp on a vf34 instead vf29???
but he wants £4000 so that wont be happining on my part.

ScoobyStu 26-09-2013 11:48 AM

IF the car is worth £7k fully running, which I doubt it is, then it's not worth £4k as a non runner! Blokes dreaming, think £2-2.5k is a fair offer.

Exactly that..... he says it was on PH for £7495 before the engine started knocking. Even as a mint car, he's a couple of grand overpriced there for a start.

I wouldn't go over £2k either - not only have you got to fork out for a build, but you've got all the hassles of getting it done, running in etc.

I can see why he thinks that as he is working back from what he has spent, what he thought it was worth and therefore what it is now worth.

Unfortunately, he's monstrously biased and not looking at it through a buyer's eyes. Let him know your offer is still there and assuming no one else feels differently I imagine he might yet accept it.

Aesthetically it is a decent looking car. Not so sure on the black scoop personally, but that is a minor personal taste point!

scooby doo 26-09-2013 02:31 PM

scoops/grill would be painted and my local subaru speacilist to rebuild with some later rods, but im not going past 2k thats for sure, so will let it go and look at something else

2k is too much really in my mind, I saw this car outside the car valeters on my way to FB Tuning on Saturday just gone, it did look quite clean.

I would not trust SGT in maidenhead (taplow) to do anything to a car, I have seen front springs fitted to the rear of cars and so forth from them..and they always charged a ridiculous price, even by main stealer standards.

The engine could be rebuilt locally to where it is now (I know 1 or 2 folks up that way)

Looking for newage now, do you guys think id likly find a clean stock sti blob? I have 6k max max. The options i see, is bug sti or blob wrx ppp ive been talking to guy on here with the wrx ppp, but already has a viewer in front of me so, whats your thoughts, i like the sti as fully loaded but a ppp is still good and if can pick up cheaper i can add some extras to bring up the spec.

£7495 what a joke........
He would sruggle to get £4000-£5000 for it as a runner.

I paid £5400 11 months ago to get mine back and I knew the car inside out, so there's a good indicator on price for you.
A good late classic bought now should not loose any money and you've only got to look on ses recently to see where people are spending their scooby dosh......there were more classics at the last meet then I have seen for many years.

Nice looking car but he's had his pants pulled down lookin at some of the prices.
Don't get where it says Subaru short engine then Subaru block

+1 ( if it is as clean underneath as it is on the outside)
