Another locking nut thread?

I assume they are locking nuts. Have looked everywhere but cant find it, craig said he never saw it and sam said he left it in the glove box.

All 5 wheel nuts on each wheel have this on it:

Any ideas how to get them off?

Have what on it.....am I missing something...? That looks like what is commonly called a 'tuner nut/bolt'.

These are used when a wheel wrench won't go over the end of a standard nut due to the size of the hole surrounding it on the alloy. They unscrew by the use of a adapter that goes in the middle hole. Fairly common.

eg. £1.61 Demon Tweaks:

Okay thanks ill order one. What i meant is they are on all the studs, i thought they are locking nuts which are usually just one per wheel.

Thanks for the link.

Pleasure.

Check the size you need. The link was just an example.

If there made of Ali, I would ditch them. Look nice at first, and weigh sod all, but take them off a few times, and you risk them twisting.....which sometimes then you cant get them off.

You can get a nice steel set instead.

RCS2810 30-07-2013 03:38 PM

Okay thanks. A set of halfords okay?

jay vr6 30-07-2013 03:52 PM

I've got a 1/2" hex set if you want to save the few quid buying the adaptor ?

RCS2810 30-07-2013 05:38 PM

Okay. This may sound stupid but how do i find out stiff like the thread diameter and pitch?

bonner 30-07-2013 05:47 PM

I got mine off ebay, most aftermarket nut seats are the same 60 degrees if i can remember? if you see what you want just ask the seller if unsure?

NorthDownsScooby 30-07-2013 06:07 PM

If you have a £100 or so to spare try Rays Duralium - light AND strong. . . and colour coded.

RCS2810 30-07-2013 06:08 PM

Yeah ill wait till i get the adapter.

majorscooby 30-07-2013 07:54 PM

Don't buy the hollow alloy D1 spec nuts there ****e! As nick has said they twist after a while or they twist if you let a tit run them up with a rattle gun like somebody I know did to mine!!!! Oh and they come loose after a run out when they get hot. Ditched mine and bought a set of tpi tuner nuts.

RCS2810 31-07-2013 11:04 AM

Wow im impressed with demon tweaks, ordered it yesterday got it today. Fits perfect. Ill look into buying some tpi tuner nuts now. Thanks guys.
