What a choice

Went out for a meal with one of my oldest mates. He offered to drive and let me pick the car from:

Bentley Turbo R
BMW 1M (modded to around 400 bhp)
Ferrari 458
Ferrari F40
Porsche GT3
Mercedes 350SL

Which did I choose?

Which would you choose?

Hongkongfooi 17-07-2013 07:24 AM

Yep f40 all day

XRS 17-07-2013 07:33 AM

Don't forget, what did I choose as well as what you would :)

Banstead Stig 17-07-2013 08:36 AM

You keep good company.

I'd go for the F40.

Don't know you, so my guess is not informed. 458?

Lucky 17-07-2013 08:37 AM

mmmm... tough one. Personally the 458 being a more 'modern' ferrari. I will plump for the GT3 for you phil.

Did you go for a Maccy's drive through?

riiidaa 17-07-2013 09:08 AM

Easy choice, F40

No Steve, we went for an Indian, no Macdonalds around where he lives (I'm up in Gloucestershire for a week or so while the T25 is at PowerStation).

I've been out in the F40 before though :)

tbtstt 17-07-2013 10:34 AM

Everyone has already said it, but one more time...

F40!

In that case, i think you'd chose this time to go for a ride in....

....the F40 again!

*or maybe the 458

CRAIGR 17-07-2013 07:55 PM

Would have taken a cab and had a few beers with me old mate.:chug:

Then taken the Gt3 in the morning.

NorthDownsScooby 17-07-2013 09:33 PM

Which version of the 350sl ??

ScoobyStu 17-07-2013 11:05 PM

F40 for me too. Along with the RS500 it was my first favourite car. Still love them now. Only saw one in the flesh for the first time a few years ago, very emotional experience!

Ps. That's one hell of a garage!

That' not the half of it, either. Road cars not there included a Ferrari 275GTB/4 matching numbers, a 1960s Rolls and a 205 GTI 1.9, and then there are the racing cars, including 3 Lola T70s, Nissan R90, Chevron B8, Porsche RSR, lightweight E-Type, Alfa T33.

My mate competes in the British GT championship, so whichever car I chose was going to be a memorable ride.

Te 350SL is from the 1970s, and like all his cars, in perfect condition.

Banstead Stig 18-07-2013 08:52 AM

Stone the crows.

It's fair to say this bloke has a little bit of money tied up in cars then. Three Lola T70s is just greedy. ;-)

Ah, the R107 - not the best flavour.

If it was one of these, then yes,

http://www.classicandperformancecar....re.php?id=3848

otherwise it's the F40 for me too.

XRS 18-07-2013 05:50 PM

Well, I decided to go in the Bentley. It was the only marque of those on offer I hadn't been in before and I was very impressed with both the kick in the back when it was given the beans, and how well it went around the corners :)

thepieman 18-07-2013 06:05 PM

and because your getting old Phil:razz:

Knowing what Martyns experience and Tim, Gregs experience of Powerstation has been.....surprised the T25 goes there!!

Not thought anymore about the classic lotus then?

Amazing! I'd need a Euro millions win and a big one at that to be able to compete! Love the the 205 getting in there amongst it all!

It's a moving feast Ron. I went from a Lotus to thinking about a 997 CS2, but frightened off by the engine problems, so I decided to have the T25 done at PowerStation, where I've always been happy with my experience, though I am aware of the problems others have had.
Having said that,I should have had a call today to confirm that it will be ready tomorrow but I heard nothing. Hoping to be back home tomorrow still :)

He's a real enthusiast, and I bought my first classic STi from him back in 1999 :)

Ron's right though, I am old :D
