Got the new car

Got it picked up from craigs today yay. Gotta wait till august for the insurance.

It was fine when he took us out in it a few weeks ago but I got it back to the campsite and had a little drive round and I noticed when at temperature it idles at 1700 revs, doesnt go when I blip the throttle.. first time its done that.

Also it has an oil temp gauge and it was almost at 100, what should it be on as on its memory the last reading was about 75-80..

Am I just a jinx with sccoobies?

Oh it has been stood for a while so maybe throttle cable sticking causing it to rev higher?

Hi there if you want a reference I can compare with mine.

My temp gauge when stuck in traffic on a baking hot day has hit 96 a few times. never had treble figures though. Normal driving conditions its normally between 85 and 90.

Well to be honest it was about 96-98... it also wasnt driven much or far, stood standing for a while so if thats the case it sounds normal.

Any ideas on the throttle? I let it go to up to temp and booted it from first to second then it wouldn't drop revs below 1700.

Just to clarify from what Rich is telling me via text.
Car was outside mine idling fine for 15-20 mins whilst being loaded on truck, Rich tells me after unloading car was idling fine also (assume it was jumpstarted as battery is flat).
Rich then drove it up the lane in first and second gear with gusto and this is when idle problem started. He says water temp gauge running at under half yet oil temp gauge at 100 which seems high when water temp is showing below normal ??

Idle is very high, shoud be around 900rpm.

RCS2810 14-07-2013 08:05 PM

I was thinking that perhaps as there was no air passing through it the oil gauge is high but dont know why the revs were high. I'll try it again tomorrow. Maybe just dodgey beginners luck

Update.

Started it again and I idled at 900 perfect.

Just sitting there at 2-3k revs the oil temp went to 92 but went idling for 5 mins it stayed at 92... not bad as the car wasnt moving?

Water temp was just under half...

riiidaa 15-07-2013 12:11 PM

maybe the ecu reset?

RCS2810 15-07-2013 12:23 PM

Well it seems okay now. I think ill wait till im insured on it and give it a good drive and see what its like then.

RCS2810 16-07-2013 09:43 AM
